Props in Home Design and Architecture

I am about to do some remodeling and I was wondering if anyone here has incorporated prop or movie designs into their home. I am not talking about the starwars display. or life sized statues but more like acheitectural aspects from movies and TV, or props used as design aspects. I would love any ideas or pictures of similar designs. I am also in love with the Steampunk concept in design and architecture.

One of the things I am doing is having all the window sills replced with hardwood and stained, I would like to have some supernatural-esque protection symbols cnc'd into them.

I would love to get a hold of one of those blade runner tiles as well.

I reproduced about 150 of the 8" Frank Lloyd Wright Bladerunner tiles & Plastered them on the front of my house. Still have the mold...

I thought about making some SW Imperial logo tiles to mix into my kitchen backsplash, but my wife nixed that idea. I did build an Imperial logo ceiling light (36" dia.) for my collection room, though.

If I will get enough money to make the basement, I will try to replicate part of the swan station from LOST (the "hatch")... Well, that's the idea (dream) anyway...:D

To keep the basement remodel on the cheap, I'm just painting the cinderblock walls yellow, and adding a Ghostbusters containment unit to the wall(amongst other things). Even have some old metal shelves to add to the look.

We're also incorporating elements of Ohio State architecture to her sports den.

Should be wild looking when done!

I did a hawaiian room/ tiki room, ala the jungle boat at disneyland. Pretty cheap to do, as I was able to get a lot of the decorations and furnishings from disneyland as surplus (they recently renovated their polynesian hotel). So, I got a lot of things like waste baskets, drapes and so on for under $20 each, all appropiately themed.

This works well as a background for indiana jones/ steampunk/ adventure props.

The downside was that I had to make pretty much everything: you can't
buy this kind of stuff at home depot. I even had to make my own doorknobs (try and find
themed doorknobs)

ive always wanted an alien hive hallway

Creepy AND expensive. Sculptures would take a lot of time too.

I guess you could make the walls out of dental stone, but that would be REALLY heavy... Fiberglass panels that are modular?

I'm planning a notstromo hallway, seems a lot easier to me.

I hope to build an outside bar and base for a hot tub and make it look on the sides look like an archeology dig with Dino bones (Jurassic Park), and Indiana Jones props Like the grail, and part of the ark, and tablets and such partially dug up slightly sticking out from it, built into it.
I want to add some other related film stuff as well, maybe some Stargate or other items that fit that archeology dig type design.

I would love to say it was an original idea, but it was something I thought of after seeing the fantastic t-rex design on this thread from Tom - So I was just going to stand on the shoulders of others and build mine starting from that inspiration.

Hi there

My girlfriend and I we tried transforming my room into Jack Sparrow's about two years ago. The outcome was well worth the effort but unfortunatly we hade to move, so the whole project was destroyed before we had a chance to finish it...

Now my girlfriend is up to another project by transforming our kitchen into the one seen at Joss Whedon's Firefly and Serenity...

Although this time she is doing it all herself (with some help of her father :) ) as my new job does not give me enough time to become a fulltime-help here.

Another project was the Sweeney Todd Commode she crafted last week...

"My" project this year will be another captain's cabin for our bedroom but that's far from finished...

That's it so far :cool

I was wondering when Lisa's theater would come up:lol
It's a great room, Han in Carb the door for the movie vault, magnetic doors that are held closed but would open in a power outage, ideal set for a fan film too:love

I always thought I'd make a prop room similarly styled to V's Shadow Gallery. I loved how it had the edgy, gothic appearance to it.

I remember this... What a shame - still hurts to think you had to tear it down.
