Space Mutiny Replica Props?

***please be kind if I shouldn't have posted this***
I joined RPF so I could help research props for my adult children & husband because they are very much into this type of thing. A favorite movie of my oldest child is "Space Mutiny". My husband wants to get or create a prop for a Christmas gift & so I have watched this movie too, too many times, lol. I'm reaching out to see if anyone has any suggestion or can point us in the right direction to get something going. -- thanks

After seeing your post I watched the movie. Some easy gift suggestions I might make would a plasma ball (lamp). hula hoops, vintage keyboards for wall art, and "wife beater" t-shirts. I took some screen captures to see if I could make an illustration of the Enforcer's handgun which catch my interest. I am not sure how quickly that might come together or how much time I could devote so do not count of anything coming about in time for anyone to fabricate something for Christmas 2025. There are some other ideas which your husband or others might pursue. They would include the pilot's handgun, plot's belt buckle, Enforcer's belt buckle (shown in about 4 frames), and the bazooka-like weapon.

I don't have any suggestions on the props, but – Space Mutiny as in the MST3K episode? Or they're a fan of it on its own somehow?

I can help offer some pointers, slightly. Very, very slightly. :D

The outer space shots of Space Mutiny were recycled from Battlestar Galactica, the 1978 version. Find yourself a model of Galactica 1978 and you have the Southern Sun. They didn't even bother changing the names of the smaller ships from "Viper", so find yourself a 1978 BSG Viper, and some 1978 Cylon Raider ships, and you are set! :)

As for the rest: I am not remotely an expert on identifying the base components of old props. The handheld laser guns were modified Uzis (I think?) ; sadly, the Internet Movie Firearms Database does not have a listing for this movie, so I can't say for sure!

The rocket launcher appears to have been a glorified PVC tube with greebles, and the Enforcer zambonis were...uh...you've got me.

Hopefully -- hopefully! -- you are familiar with the masterpiece Mystery Science Theater 3000 version of this movie. (If not, please, oh please, go to Amazon right now and purchase yourself a copy of "Mystery Science Theater 3000, Vol. 4." You will thank me.)

And, assuming that you are familiar with that gem, then I can think of the best possible prop you could ever make, and it's an easy one too; you could have it done at your local trophy store:

A plaque listing the Many Names of Dave Ryder.

(Thank you, and goodnight.)

I can’t believe you watched it, it’s such a terrible movie, lol. I think it’s a bit of a classic among the MST3K fans.
I’m going to go back & watch to check out the belt buckle - that has peeked my interest
Thanks for your suggestions & for watching it, lol

OMGosh - thanks for the Battlestar suggestion
I knew this but didn’t even think about searching for some toys & I’m really considering the plaque idea
I have seen the MST3K version & the original
My family is really into them, me not so much, lol
Thanks again for the great suggestions

Ah, cool.

If you're comfortable doing some custom work, and are still looking for ideas, consider picking up a Funko Pop Crow T Robot and dress it up as a Bellarian:

Looks like he has a full outfit in the show, but a "wig" and some red paint "lipstick" on his beak would probably get the idea across.

That is a fantastic idea. :)

Now, MaJack, if you wanted to go completely overboard, a quick Google search turns up a bunch of replica Crow T. Robot puppets for sale out there. A full-size Crow-as-Bellerian, perhaps with Hot Topic plasma ball accessory, would be something to see!
