Props from THE SUBSTANCE

Whaoo Amazing. I’m interested in usb. How much with international delivery ? Will it work with the ad from the movie ?

All right, painted the sleeves and applied some cut vinyl...these are the results:

Not bad. I've learned a few things:
  • The "The Substance" text is too large; it needs to be reduced a bit.
  • The "909-555-1099" text is just about perfect.
  • The black matte paint works just fine.
  • I will need to come up with a way to align the text on the sleeve a little bit better.
  • The quality of the Cricut has its limits. Although the text passes the "three foot test", I would like to try to get the text a little more precisely cut. I've ordered a fresh fine blade, so we'll see.
What do you think?
Really amazing work! I’m almost done building mine. But instead of 3D printing the black part, I’ve opted for heat shrinking rubber sleeves. I think it is a plausible alternative and gives it that "rubbery" texture. What do you think?

I love it! What "rubber sleeves" did you use? Is it heat shrink wiring tubing or something similar?

Sorry for asking but does anyone have an idea on how to achieve the USB stick with a genuine storage USB inside? Any help would be appreciated!

Great movie and the whole scene where she was unpacking the Substance kit was pure eye candy from a prop perspective. Excited to see these projects come together. The USB looks amazing.

Yes. I acquired the tubing from Leroy Merlin. But I guess these from Amazon will do just fine:
Heat Shrink Tubing from Amazon

I've used 13mm diameter tubing but I really recommend 15mm ~ 18mm, since the 13mm were tight and really hard to slide into place.

Thanks again for the tip! I have a bunch more available, now made this way, in the Project Runs forum:

Thank you!
Bill

Sorry Bill,i put this in the wrong place. This should have been in your Severance thread.
I need to see this though too.

Ah, Severance? YES! Incredible! So much philosophical depth, yet scary drama and dark humor over such a simple premise. Treat yourself!

Building my box right now, just curious? Has anyone tackled trying to do the food matrix bags? The most reliable way I've hypothesized is freezing first then vacuum sealing in sections. But I have no idea if that's even feasible.
