Hey all:
So it appears it's been a couple years since this forum had a discussion about ruby slippers, so let me share what I spotted at Spirit Halloween today:
And sure enough, they're on the website as well:
Maybe they've been there before...this is my first time going into a Spirit Halloween in the month of August!
I just can't afford Paragon-quality replicas for $350, but at $40, I was thinking these might be a decent starter set, to maybe mod for a little more accuracy? I see the sequins are smaller, but they look quite nice. And clearly the bows would have to be removed, and new flat bows with rhinestones and beads more like the film versions need to be made. Also the lining is the wrong color, but as a more "idealized" props fan, I'm more inclined to simply put some inserts in.
So you guys who have made/bought ruby slippers...to your eyes, do these look like a viable starter pair? What else should be changed? More trouble than they're worth?
Thanks for looking!
Bill
