Well, wow. Quite a film. Not for the faint of heart, but IMO definitely the best body horror since The Thing. Sorry Cronenberg, but I like this better!

And there are definitely a few prop replicas I think that are worth trying to put together from this film!

First off, this Flash Drive. It seems like a found part, modified. Anyone recognize it? I'm going to do the online/Google hunter-gatherer thing, but just in case it's known...

Think I found it. Looks like a cheap Bluetooth receiver, found on multiple sites:



I think it was cut in half, extended with a fake body, and then a white LED added to the end.

That movie was like prop candy for me. Definitely gonna make the flash drive and probably the activator bottle as well. You can get those self-healing bottles on amazon at 10/$10 and I think it's just full of glowstick juice.

edit: I found this one listed as a USB light, probably solves the issue of getting it to light up when plugged in

Whoa, great finds, thank you! I will definitely pick up some of those lights too! I wonder if they just extended them by cutting the shell in half and using some wires between the front and back? That would be quick and easy. Revisiting the clip where she plugs it in to the TV, I can see the clear elements in the front AND the back lit up. And it does not blink; I think you've nailed it.

Can you please share the best link for the bottles?

I'm also thinking I can design the USB body extender as a file that can be 3D printed. When my USBs get here I will take a crack at it and share any files.

I was thinking of you Astyanax when I saw it. The whole Substance kit seems worth replicating – the medical gear, vials, and bags are probably off the shelf supplies, and all the cards and text seem easily enough to print.

Thanks! Yeah this is all what I used:

Make sure to get the 7ml vials. These ones were already sealed so I had to inject the green water in them with one of the little syringes. I just added yellow and a tiny bit of green food coloring to some distilled water.

Ive also attached the alcohol pad art I made because you can't seem to buy that brand here in the states.

Closest font to what's used in the movie is called 'League Gothic'. Its not as bold but it works just fine.

yep! vacuum sealer bags. 12" rolls are what I used and what looked to be the closest in scale.

Edit: 11” is actually what I used.

This is the kind of project that can be really fun; I'm going to take my time.

Yes definitely do. A lot of trial and error for a kit that looks relatively easy haha. Big one for me was using the right adhesive when gluing all the 1 inch clear containers to make the 1-7 cartridge. I took for granted how strong the vacuum sealer was. Definitely use 5 minute epoxy and a small paint brush to adhere them all to one another. Searched and searched and just couldn’t find a set that screws together.

Use font PF Mellon if you want a more film accurate R. The font was custom made for the movie but League Gothic and PF Mellon get you what you need.
