Predators - Royce Costume

We actually went up to the Prop Store in LA yesterday so I could hand pick the one I wanted. There were good and bad things about both, but ultimately I went with the one I was able to screen match from the opening scenes from Predators.

If you don't want to buy the other screen used gun, morgan13 has made a KILLER replica at a fraction of the price. Once I am back home, I'll post pics of the replica and the screen used. Shawn did an amazing job and I would strongly encourage those of you looking to get an AA-12 to pick it up from him.

That is really cool. I had contacted THE PROP STORE several weeks ago and they actually had two of the AA-12's that were used in the movie. I just got off the phone with them and they still have the $2995.00 dollar prop sitting in their L.A. store but you snagged the other one. LUCKY YOU !!! No way I am going to drop three thousand on a prop and be forced to fill out special paperwork just to add an item to my outfit. Looks like I will be paying someone to craft me one. Almost done.

Art, any chance of some measurements with pictures of your AA-12, your steel eagle and your machete? Thanks to everyone who put in to this most excellent of threads!:thumbsup (mind it has sidetracked me from my zillion other projects and given my Chinese wife a near breakdown, she just doesn't get it:lol)

I won't be home for a couple more days but once I am back and caught up, I'll post up whatever measurements you want. I don't have the machete yet. It is the one piece I still lack. But when I get it, I'll get measurements for it as well.

Yes, please post some pics of both the AA-12's and also include where or how we contact the person morgan who can make the AA-12's. As for the watch that Royce wears, has anyone found one for less than 200 dollars?

I am curious though, how did you find wearing that tactical belt? From wearing a similar belt with a Stargate outfit, the fact that it slouches down on the holster side would be somewhat annoying for me.

I spent a ridiculous amount of time before the con adjusting all my gear so it would hang like Royce's does. He wears everything incredibly sloppily and it was actually hard to capture that look. I like everything to be strak, but for this you can't. As far as how it worked at the con, this is the most comfortable costume I have ever worn. Incredibly light an easy to move in.

Holy crap, that is one of the coolest screen accurate costumes I've seen. After seeing Predators its instantly recognisable too. You wear it well Art.

Awesome work on the costume you never cease to amaze in accuracy!
I watched the movie again two days ago and the weathering and the adjustment look just right!

And congrats on the AA-12, what a gift!

Please, by all means explain in detail why I am not suppose to talk price in this forum? THE PROP STORE carried "TWO" of the AA-12 shotgun items.
One was the actual stunt AA-12 which can fire blanks and was made from an actual AA-12 and is $2995.00 dollars and requires specific paperwork just like buying a gun.
The second is the one Art's wife purchased and I did not state the price of his gift.
Perhaps this will clear up any confusion. So to anyone who wants to drop three grand on the ONLY STUNT AA-12 from the movie, it is still available.

If it is not convertible to a functioning firearm it doesn't require ANY paper work provided it has been modified sufficiently to satisfy the BATFEs requirements that it is no longer a firearm. One of the main requirements is that the barrel plug be perminately afixed. Probably by welding or pinning and welding. A working AA-12 receiver that can cycle and fire blanks would still be considered a machinegun by the BATF.

A working fully automatic AA-12 is a Title II "machinegun" under Federal law. There are only 5 transferable (pre-1986) AA-12s in existence.

WRONG Wooly, I called and spoke to them. The Prop Store has some paperwork they are making people fill out if the 3000 dollar stunt item is purchased. If you don't think so then pick up the phone and call them at

The prop store can do whatever they want. I am referring to Federal firearms laws. Which is the "specific paperwork just like buying a gun". A title I firearm is transferred through a Form 4473. The AA-12 is not a title I firearm because it is fully automatic. It could be a title II "machinegun" but because it is post 1986 it wouldn't be transferable except to law enforcement agencies and the military.

I could be wrong but the Propstore doesn't even have a FFL on record that I could find. Therefore they cannot transfer (sell) anything classified as a firearm.

Have you ever purchased a firearm?

Here is an idea Wooly, pick up the phone and dial the phone number and have them explain why they want some odd-ball paperwork filled out.
Once you get done quizing them with all your legal experstise then come back here and explain it.

Thank you Art, no rush mate. I'll prepare the measurements I need and post them. You're a gentleman!

Stunt gun? Wouldn't that be rubber? Can't check myself, the propstore doesn't appear to have anything on their site.

Hackroutetracer, you are misinformed. The guns that Prop Store has/had are both rubber stunt guns. Neither function in any way. The firing guns came from ISS and were returned after filming.

The photos I've seen around the board of Art gussied up in full Royce attire were definitely pretty prodigious, among many things it was unfortunate I wasn't also able to see this costume firsthand at con due to unforeseen snafus foiling my trip again this year.

Hopefully I'll see you and Kristen next month for Munson's soiree if your still attending and talk your ear off about this project then sir.

Also got a chance to photograph my replica AA-12 created by our very own morgan13! The colors are off because I gave Shawn the wrong info so that is my fault. We will be correcting it soon and Shawn will be making these available to you!

Did the AA-12 drum actually fit in the drum pouch?

I haven't tried to actually stuff the drum into the pouch, but laying them up to one another, yes, the size of the pouch appears to be correct for the drum. I would strongly recommend going with 3gungear for the pouch.

I know Art touched on this but I wanted to as well. Either you misunderstood what Prop Store said or the person you spoke with was misinformed about the guns. Not trying to harp on the subject and please don't feel I am picking on you. I just want everyone to be very clear about these guns. BOTH of the guns that Prop Store of London had were stunt guns from Predators. BOTH stunt AA12's are rubber guns. NEITHER of them can fire blanks. BOTH were the same price. We saw BOTH guns, one at the Con and then the second at their LA Store, side by side with the one they had at Comic Con. They are BOTH exactly the same in their build, the only minute difference was a slight variation in how the camo adhesive was applied and let me say, they are almost exactly the same in that regard as well. However, the difference that there was is what allowed us to screen match the one that we ultimately chose for Art. That was the ONLY difference between the two guns. There was NO PAPERWORK that needed to be signed for EITHER gun. I think that the reason people are giving you a little bit of a hard time is because you asked the price of a gift as well as a screen used piece. I must admit I felt the same way and not even Art knows what I paid for his gift. Anyway, I hope this makes it very clear all the information about these two stunt guns from Predators. I'm just thrilled I was able to get this for Art :)

Heeheehee, I just went into the living room for the first time (got home very late last night and went right to bed) and I see Art has his Royce on a mannequin sitting on one of the tables and it looks absolutely fantastic!
