Just a note... after looking at this pic and a few others and seeing what is happening to my navy pants now that they have been washed a couple of times, I am sticking with the navy and abandoning my search for the charcoal pants.

Couple more things. This photo shows that Royce's pistol does have the skeleton trigger as well as a mag in the front pouch of the holster.

Post some pics of your shotgun and the drum and if you can also post some pics of how you took off and repalced the buckles. I am thinking that you guys did not take your stitching out and actually cut somne of the old buckles off and then had to cut a slot to put the new buckles on when working on the holster.

I won't have those available until after SDCC, but you better believe as soon as I get back, you will get the full report on it!

On the buckles, yup, that is what I had to do. Actually, I dyed my buckles but as Augofett has appropriately pointed out earlier in the thread, I actually need to replace them entirely. I got my buckles off by cutting through the back of the buckle. I didn't cut the straps.

Alright... this is about all I am doing before SDCC. I still am waiting on the AA-12 which should be here on Friday. Have a couple of super small tweeks but won't be worth another rounds of pics. Overall, I am pretty darn happy, which is rare!

It's been truly a delight keeping tabs on this thread and seeing this build develop and progress. The level of methodical diligence Art is well known for in these circles is in no short supply here. I'm very excited to see this mahvelous costume firsthand in hopefully a few days time.

Hmmm, can't put my finger on it Art, but I think the pants need more... Weathering.
J/k bro. I am absolutely loving this.

please pm me telling how you dide weather everything?? id really like to know :confused

So, I am trying to nail down the Sling. I believe it to be a padded M249 / M60 sling. I can say for sure it is not a Pantac M249 sling nor is it the Milspex M249 sling, although that is the closest I have seen to date. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

WONDERFUL!!!

Just one question...when you add "real" weathering to your outfits, how do you clean them up after a costuming weekend. A day or two should do much, but wearing your outfit (talking about pants and shirt in special) a couple of times will leave you with a nice "smell", right? Do you wash and RE-weather them in this case???

You could just jump in the shower about 2 hours before you leave to go to the convention to achieve that "wet" look lol

For all the gear, the weathering is semi-permanent, but I don't expect it to ever be washed.

For the shirt, the staining is permanent, so I can wash it no prob.

On the pants, the "mud" is just fuller's earth, so it will come right off in the wash... I'll just need to reapply it when I put this on a mannequin. This was the same way I went about bloodying up my Starship Trooper. You have to redo it each time because it is just too messy to transport and the weathering gets messed up in the coarse of costuming throughout the day. For me, I have never been able to find anything to match real dirt than real dirt (or in this case fuller's earth). If you try to air brush it, it just looks terrible. So, this costume is unbelievably nasty and leaves crud everywhere, but that is how it should be!

I am actually not much of a costumer, so I will be surprised if I wear this more than once.

After looking at the pics of the complete costume I think I will go with the darker shirt, the brown. I have washed shirts before over and over again to age and fade them so I will try this to get what I am looking for. However, I am concerned with walking around with a real knife, a real machete and a real 1911 (unlaoded) and real shotgun shells. It will be fun to see how long it takes to get talked too (grin).

I would strongly recommend going with the Coyote shirt.

If you look back a page, the Topps knife can be screwed into the sheath with no damage to the knife.

I don't have a solution yet for the machete since I haven't picked one of those up yet.

For Comic Con I picked up a super cheap 1911 springer... but will be getting a nicer and more accurate airsoft once I actually have some money again.

With the shotgun shells... I cut them in half with a pipe cutter and then poured out all the powder and shot. I taped them back together. The primers are still in them... I just don't have the heart to walk around with primers with dimples in them. Wish I could find some good fake shells.

All of it is weathered the same way... fuller's earth in water, paint on with a brush, dab off with a rag.
