How to change your themes on an iPod touch/iPhone
Tutorial time
OK I have had a few people ask how I did my Terminator/Predator themes on my touch so I have compiled a slightly geeky but easy to follow guide.
YOUR IPOD/IPHONE MUST BE JAILBROKEN FIRST! (use Quickpwn)
Here are the steps I took to transfer my files
IMPORTANT! Anyone who has SSH'd before just follow steps under THEME CUSTOMIZATION
1: download Putty from
here
2: Then download Win SCP from
here
3:Install automatic SSH on the iPod you can find it through Installer on your springboard installer/search for SSH
Ok you're ready to talk to your ipod via SSH .
CONNECTING TO DEVICE
In you iPod menu click settings/general/autolock and click never (this will stop the iPod from sleeping
1: Load up Putty and type in your iPod I.P address in the field marked Host name or (I.P address)
2: Click open. Your computer will search for your iPod/iPhone
3: Enter the following
User: root
Password: Alpine
The name of your device will be displayed.
Stage 3.
Open WinSCP and enter same IP address as before and user: root , password: alpine.
Now click login and you will see a browser split screen with My documents one side and your iPod the other
THEME CUSTOMIZATION
To change the themes you navigate to iPod/Var/Stash/Themes
Make a new folder and call it new theme (you can change this later)
Now open an existing theme and copy the following files: Wallpaper.PNG, Lockbackground.PNG and the ICONS folder to your desktop.
Now open the files in a DP program like Photoshop and just change the images to whatever you like. IMPORTANT overite the seperate files don't rename (The ipod only recognises PNG files.
Thats it, return to WINSSH and drag from desktop to the new theme folder and restart your ipod. Now just go to Winterboard and your theme should be the first one you see, click it and it will load your new custom theme on your iPod.
Enjoy.
