Potter collection and question

Greetings, all:

I have one small shelf dedicated to Potter, and I feel that something's missing. Most of the stuff is from Noble (whose customer service BLOWS btw), with the Snitch being a Hallmark ornament I repainted.

My question is about the Order of the Phoenix photo. I hate it. It's one of those cheap 1980's hologram things, and I was wondering if anyone replicated, or had the file, of the photo?

I'm watching the thread on the Advanced Potions Making book, and think maybe that'd be good to add, or a Felix Felicis vial on a stand? Perhaps something added to the display, such as fabric underneath or something?

Ideas and comments are most welcome.

Ah....lol, I guess I should have been more specific. I meant the original Order, that Sirius gave Harry in the train station. That's the one Noble sent in that craptastic-extremely-late Prop box.

Very awesome pic, though. :)

Thanks for sharing! Could you kindly take a close-up photo of the Hallmark Snitch? I've been curious to see a real (non-stock) photo of one.

BTW: I've had much better luck dealing with WBShop.com, especially with customer service and such. Although, I've noticed that they've raised almost all of their prices at least five dollars more than from Noble... Thankfully, they seem to have monthly sales on their merchandise that evens it out a bit.

Sorry to say I do not have any other stock photos from the movie than that one. I have had some HP collectibles over the time:

My wife likes Hallmark ornaments and by chance I was shadowing behind her last week (since they introduce the new ornaments now), when I saw the snitch. It was the last one, which was wild. All the other ones had already sold, so I got the display. The "gold" was more of a flat orange, but the detail was good. It had "I open at the close" on it, in a micro decal that was so small it was pointless. It was only 12 bucks, and with a can of gold spray paint I perked it up. I know the wings should be gold, but I left them for contrast. The stand I made from some scrap metal and a 2 bucks wooden base from Joann Fabrics.

Here's a better, and sharper, photo so you can see the Order. Also, here's a close-up of the snitch.

Thanks for the pics! Nice job on the repaint, looks like a nice reflective finish on it now. :thumbsup

Thanks. It's just plain gold paint from Ace Hardware. I picked the closer of the two colors, taped off the wings and just shot it. It only took one coat, as i didn't want it to clump in the corners.

I went back and did a screencap in both Sorcerer's Stone and Deathly Hallows, Part I, and in both the Snitch has gold wings. I left them, though, for purely aesthetic reasons.

I'm very picky about how stuff is displayed, and don't want it over-crowded, so I don't know if I'll add anything more after I redo the picture.

EDIT: This is the photo image I'm looking for.

Very nice display Legion. The snitch looks great. Never saw that ornament where I live unfotunatley..

Thanks. You can find the ornament online if you Google "Hallmark snitch". It was a limited run, and it seems like most are up in the $50 range, which is obscene since I paid $12 just a week ago.

It seems to me that you need something that shows a little of the whimsy of the HP series... a potion or a mandrake or a Mimbulous mimbletonia, or something along those lines. Or something from Weasley's Wizard Wheezes (an extendable ear, or Skiving Snackbox perhaps), or one of the many charming books. There's literally dozens of things to choose from. I have three rooms of my house decorated in HP themes, and I don't really have room for all the items and ideas I keep coming up with. It should be a breeze choosing something else.

You'd think, huh? I think a copy of Advanced Potions would be good or something along those lines. I don't like a display looking crowded, so it would have to be something larger that i can fit in the back, since that's what needs filling. I've self-dedicated the one shelf to HP, as the rest is for my BSG collection and all the Classical books and stuff for work. I'd love it if there was a nice vial on a stand to put a felix felicis in.

How much height does your shelf have? What about a colorful Sneakoscope or Remembrall? You could mount it atop a fancy brass candlestick to bring it above the rest of your stuff.

The candlestick is a neat idea. I'll have to see who sells the items and how they look. Maybe the Deathly Hallows emblem....

Anyway, here's the space I have to work with on that shelf in order to give you a better idea of the height.

Hey there,

Maybe you are missing a replica of the original letters Hermione Granger received in the first movie when the owls drop off the post/mail for the first time in the Great Hall? I've got the originals and I'm thinking about letting them replicate for the fans that want to have them in their collection. Maybe that would be a great addition to your current collection shelf?
Maybe I can open a new thread to discuss this with other Potter fans like you and me to see how many fans would appreciate this.

let me know if you're interested in this.

Kind regards

William
