Portal Gun Work-in-Progress

So, I'm still working on my mini Companion Cube project (link in my sig) but it was cold this week again so I decided to see if there were any pep files to base a portal gun from. The only files I found were way too small, so I had to arrange one to try and get it as close to 1:1 scale as possible.

This ended up being about 24 inches long from the tip of the barrel to the end. And, just in case you're wondering, the scale for the pep file is ~180%. 175% might be closer, but to each his own. =P

Also, I apologize for the blurry picture. It was taken from my phone.

I'm going to use PVC pipe for the barrel pieces, since resin-ing and sanding that would be... uh... a pain in the ass. I'll just be working on the two shell pieces for now. Also, notice there's a lot of pieces missing from this. Mainly because I didn't see the point in doing doing the pep parts for pieces that would be from styrene anyway.

Currently doing about... 6 seperate projects at the moment, so updates on this will be few and far between as I go through tons of trial-and-error stuff with everything else. But hey. It beats playing WoW. =P

Unfortunately, no updates yet. Been busy with work, home stuff, and my myriad of projects I started for myself. Thanks for the interest, though!

Oh well. Nice job on the Portal pep. I would have done that if I had known about pep files before I started on my casings. :p

Where did you get your Portal pep file?

Thanks.

Pretty easy source for the file, actually. Just googled "portal gun .pdo" and got it from one of the megaupload links.

Slight non-picture update: I went ahead and tossed a first coat of resin on the rounded parts today. Should have that part finished by tomorrow if all goes well.

How are you going to make the center indention stripe/ Volpin had to actually cut his in half, then put it back together with apoxie sculpt to get the center indention. I did that too, but I messed up the center stripe near the end, but since I'm using it for a video I don't think anyone else will notice.

If I wanted to, I could redo the casing with the pep files after I do the video. It is probably the easiest part to replicate. The hardest is the PVC. I think it took me 5 hours to get that right. o_O
