POLAR LIGHTS new movie ENTERPRISE

Polar Lights reps were at WONDERFEST here in Louisville, KY this weekend, they had a box printed up with NEW MOVIE ENTERPRISE model on it!

They said it will be out next year and that it might be out in larger scale or smaller scale (12-inches or so) or BOTH.

The new re-release of Motion Pic Enterprise looked AMAZING! Too big a model for me to display, but for those that love this ship, it looks great -- plus new version will come with Aztec DECALS -- they looked fantastic on the display piece they had. They also had out build-up of upcoming SPOCK kit and the AURORA Batmobile. This is going to be a great year for modelers!

A re-release? Is it the same size? Any noticeable differences? I could care less about the new movie version, but I'd love to build the classic movie starship!

Damn, how come I didn't know about this event? I could have gone since I live there. :lol

I'd be interested in both of them. I love the refit and I kind of like the movie one.

It now comes with decals for the saucer aztek pattern and for the rest of the ship. There is now a metal rod to mount the ship on insteadd of those three clear plastic rods.

Didn't some comany in Tiwan or China buy Polar Lights?I think they were called RC or something like that?
RC2 (a.k.a. Racing Champions and/or Ertl), an American manufacturer of die-cast collectibles, sports trading cards, and collectible figurines, bought Polar Lights several years ago. Tom Lowe, the former owner of Polar Lights, started a new company in 2005 called Round 2 and has been working with RC2 to re-release some of the old MPC, AMT, and Polar Lights styrene kits.

Wonderfest has been in Louisville every year for quite some time...it made the front page of COurier Journal's entertainment section of Friday's paper.

Go to www.wonderfest.com for info on past shows and next year's show.

I believe it is one of the largest sci-fi/fantasy/horror model and garage kit gatherings of its kind in the entire world.

I'd love to have a model of the new Enterprise in a 14"-18" size that doesn't suck rocks like the Playmates toy. The smaller scale TOS ships were really nice and a blast to build, so I'd love to take a crack at the new ship as well.

I'm happy to hear they're improving the 1:350 refit, though it's too bad I still have one from the first release sitting in the box mostly 'cause I'm scared of the Aztec pattern and worried about an armature and display stand... It figures.

Could be, but I believe POLAR LIGHTS logos were all over the place.

Johnny Lightning did own it but they got bought up too. They both still use their respective logos but are owned by someone else.

Is there a new Polar Lights web site? I can't seem to find one.

Both Polar Lights and Johnny Lightning were formerly owned by Playing Mantis. RC2 bought Playing Mantis, so the rights to both divisions (Polar Lights and Johnny Lightning) transferred to RC2.

Here's a better shot:
