I know someone probably asked this somewhere else in the forum but, I couldn't find it. Does anyone have a template or a way of easily creating a Green Lantern Hal Jordan style mask they could post? Thanks

Re: Please Help: Green Lantern Mask

you could go the way that it looks like rubies is going and get a batman face mask and trim it down into the right shape. im sure you could make it look better than the rubies on. though with a little work.

Re: Please Help: Green Lantern Mask

I think you have loads of options.

The low tech approach would be to make it with craftfoam and a heat gun, you could also go and buy one of those carnival masks and work from that, you could do it with cardboard and spackle, you could start with plaster strips for casting broken limbs, you could get some FIMO or the likes and work on a foam head, you could make it with paper maché, you could, you could you could ...

Okay, I don´t know what got into me, but I had to give it a try.

The pdo is just a start, maybe someone can clean it up some more or unfold it better, or simply use the 3DS-file to work from there...

And by the way, it looks like the mask is not actually a mask, but latex applications around his outer eye and the nose bridge and then just make up.

Actually, the mask is a CGI creation, just like the rest of his costume. It is not real!

If you want a comic style mask, you could go the quick and easy route, and buy the inexpensive one Rubie's released at Halloween. It didn't look too terrible.

Or you could check out the Junkyard and/or eBay. There's a guy that makes a really nice comic style GL mask that shows up from time to time. :cool

Really?

I wouldn´t bet money on that ;)

It´s probably true, but I guess the closest you can achieve in reality would be with prosthetics and makeup

The mask in the movie is a combination of makeup and a glued on mask (guessing silicone), and for the majority a CGI effect. In all cases, the white lenses were CG.

You could recreate thie effect exactly using a sculpted mask, some makeup around the edges of the eyes and white contact lenses, it's all a matter of budget.

i would love to do this, but i would never be happy with anything i could make for the clothing part of the costume. i saw one on here back around halloween that left me speechless and after that i knew there was no way i could match it...
