Please explain the beginning of new BSG I'm lost

Before you get too far into this show.. let me warn you the finale sucks big hairy donkey balls. It is quite frankly the least satisfying, most lame finale in the history of finales. You can essentially bet that all the questions you have about the show will come down to the biggest cop out in writing.

That's your opinion. I thought the final episodes were fantastic.

Update, I've seen the mini series and am going to start episode 10 of 13. Keep in mind that I am trying to watch this with my daughters 6mo and 20mo, so I get interrupted and stuff. Here is new my question there are two of the same asian female cylons one on BSG and one on Caprica. Is she supposed to be the same girl to the guy Helo on Caprica and the Engineer on BSG but they don't know there are two? Also the screen always says Cylon occupied Caprica. Did I miss something was CAprica a human colony at one time that the cylons took over or has it always been a cylon planet? If this is normal confusion for the series don't give away any spoilers, but if I've missed something please fill me in.

Okay, here's the answers to your questions

There are 12 Cylon Models. The "asian female" is known as the Model 8 Cylon. The one on Galactica is Lt. Sharon Valerii (aka Boomer), a Raptor pilot on board the Galactica. The one on Caprica with Helo, you can call her C-Sharon for right now (C meaning Caprica), but to give you a heads up, she gets her own nickname in Season 3. They are of the same model, but both are different copies. The Colonials in the Rag-Tag Fleet do not know that Boomer is a "sleeper agent" Cylon (remember the beginning of each episode, with the intro: "Some are programmed to think they are human."). But they do eventually find out the truth about Boomer (I won't tell you how, but they will). But at the point you're at in the show, they only know there is one Sharon Valerii and that she is human (even more so with the fabricated results of Baltar's Cylon Detector). And Helo doesn't know that the Sharon Valerii with him is a Cylon either, but he will, too find out soon (in fact, he finds out much sooner than the humans aboard Galactica).

Now, to address your question about "Cylon Occupied-Caprica", Caprica is one of 12 Colonial Colonies that were occupied by humans. After the attacks (seen in the Mini-series and the TV movie "The Plan"), the Cylons began disposing the bodies of dead humans on the Colonies' planets and began rebuilding the cities that were destroyed, taking claim of the planets for themselves. Basically, they killed the humans and are now living in the cities and homes that the humans once lived. So, in short, Caprica, which was once occupied by humans is now one of twelve planets occupied and controlled by the Cylons. I will point out (as you will find out), there were some Cylons that were in the Colonies at least two years prior to the attacks. Some of them were sleeper agents like Boomer, others who we on a mission and fully knew they were Cylons, like the Model 6 Cylon that Baltar was sleeping with and allowed access to the Colonial Defense mainframe.

If there are any other questions, feel free to ask. I am an avid RIS BSG fan, and happen to know some about the new series, as well as some about the original 1970s series that the show is a reimagining of. And I'm sure there are a few others here who also are fans of both the original and reimagined series.

Thank you that helps. Do you know were I can purchase a model 6?

You're welcome. Unfortunately, Graystone Industries went out of business a long time ago, so I don't think any Cylon model (U-87, Centurion, Hybrid or Humanoid) are available any more. :lol

You did... buy it... or regret it... or both?

Both. By the fourth episode, I out right hated the show. I skimmed a few some of the other seasons to see if it got any better but nothing was catching my interest at all.

BSG, to me, was in a league of its own. I don't know if it was because it came so fresh on the heels of 9/11 or what, but it just resonated so profoundly with me and I watched it from the beginning to the end and loved it all. It was one of those things that just seemed to come at the right time and place... Now Caprica, that's a different story. I tried the first several episodes and just couldn't seem to get into it. :unsure
