Plastic sheets?

I am somewhat in a rush to get a Halloween costume done this year, since I put it all off for school and work. I have decided to Build something like this:

But I want to make it out of plastic, since I am going for a very sleek look and I don't think foam would be able to "mold" as well to the shapes, especially when making the gauntlet. I was going to do it out of cardboard (like cereal box cardboard) but I don't think that would hold shape unless I resined it, and I don't think it would withstand that kind of treatment.

My question is, does anyone know of any type of thinner plastic that would be able to be molded with a heat gun? I was looking at the Styrene stuff, would this work? I also need to be able to pick it up at Hobby Lobby or the Home Depot store... Any ideas would be great (or even a website that could deliver quickly and cheaply)

Thanks guys.

You could take a look at plastic "for sale" signs (or any kinds of signs like that). Places like Home Depot or Lowes has them. Not sure if this would be too thin for you or not.

If you plan to heat and mold styrene by hand it will probably look less "sleek" then vacuum forming over a mold.

You will have to heat small (hand sized or smaller) sections at a time unless you bend it over a form, such as making a long curve for a shin guard.

Manipulating small sections with your fingers will make it look lumpy...but maybe that is what you want.

Search: Witch-King of Angmar. I think Hamsterstyle was successful heating and bending styrene for the helm and guantlets. Maybe you can find some inspiration there....

Good luck

You could try rubbermaid trash cans. I think there was at least 1 ironman build using that method.
