Plainclothes (or Street Clothes) Bucky Barnes? Anyone? Bueller?.....

Yep, I saw you'd posted that, and it would be nice to not have to resort to Amazon....simply in the sense of being able to find the apropos thing in person, I suppose that's always utmost ideal - but at least I know it's there. :) Have been back and forth as to whether I want to go with the ballcap, since it doesn't seem like it'll be worn all that much in the movie - only the one brief glimpse of it thus far, that one snippet of a scene....still, I can't deny that there's something about that idea of wearing a Cap shield one which strikes me as just too cute. :)

I am sure Target or similar sells Hanes Nano-Ts in the guys section. I just love Amazon since I have Prime. Also, hunting on the internet can be just as enjoyable as hunting in person at a brick and mortar.

Again-- I'd love to see your ensemble when you finish! I need to craft a 1/2 arm for myself for my summer Cons. I think I'll skip the hat too... you're right. It's only a flash in the trailer, probably the movie. But it would be adorable.

LOL, well, it's interesting you mention it, because I didn't exactly have much in the way of luck today in perusing a few places for an appropriate slate/dark grey tee like that Amazon one....I was nosing through the racks in an increasingly and evidently futile search and all's I could think was, welp, looks like I'll have no choice but to go the Amazon route after all, grrrr argh - not of course that I'm necessarily opposed to it, but you know what I mean. :) 'Course, now it's the outermost jacket itself that I'm trying to get a handle on....not just the style but the exact shade itself, I swear....have we managed to suss that out to any degree?

(I may well still do that hat idea, though, the more I think about it....some notions may be just too perfect ere they occur to us, and there's hence a reason that we can't stop thinking about them. ;) )

Talk of fortuitous again, and this is something I just shouldn't even question at this point, nor wonder at the how or why of it - call it kismet or fate or whatever else....destiny, even, because I daresay I well might!....but I made the find of the perfect dark smoke-grey tee today, entirely unexpected at Wal-Mart....perfect size, and only three bucks. And it was the only one left on the rack, the only one of that particular and necessary shade, to be found on any of the display cases....almost like it had been deliberately placed there for me by benevolent forces unknown. Utmost splendid, I say! :)

Now literally the only thing I need is that blasted outermost jacket....I'm not sure if that's been giving anyone else the fits of exasperation that it surely has been for me? A friend of mine suggested looking at, say, military-style jackets, maybe those with the look which are German, Austrian, Dutch or Swiss....? Which would encompass quite the tremendous range of possibilities, such that I'm not sure I'd know where to even begin looking.... Anyone else had more luck, to this end? :D

Loki! Good find on the t-shirt! So happy for your luck. As for the jacket, are you thinking of the green/olive canvas one or the black battle one? I've not been too interested in looking for one because he probably wears it only shortly in the film, and it really covers the arm. The uninitiated may not know who you are at cons (poor souls they would be too.) If I were looking for one (green/olive) then I'd check Army surplus stores? Sometimes they carry surplus from other countries.

However I'll keep my eyes peeled for anything that remotely looks like his costume.

Well, we know even from the trailers that it looks like he's wearing the green/olive outermost jacket, along with the rest of that civvies ensemble, for some notable portion of the movie....maybe not the proverbial lion's share of it, but definitely to some extent, the street chase, etc....same thing with the civvies gear generally and, well, yeah, already it's been my experience that people don't seem to know it on sight - that was the case for me at DragonCon last year (even with my feelsy "Searching for Steve Rogers" sign, imagine that!), though that may well change with the trailer and teaser thus far and with more yet to follow, leading up to May. :) (LOL, it had better, right? :D Poor souls they would be indeed to not know it, as you say!)

As to the black battle jacket, that one I will be working with my commissioner to get 'er done - but after we chatted back and forth on it, we decided that it'll be better and that the jacket will end up looking that much better and more accurate by far, in the end, if we wait until after the movie comes out....that way we'll have all the additional reference material to rely on, to be sure of all the appropriate detailing. We'd rather do it right, above all else. :) So in time for SDCC I'll definitely have it, and that I'm tacitly, well enough content with....especially with the commission of the SA WS jacket to tend to first. :D

That is certainly a plan... I was surprised when you said no one recognized you at Dragon Con... really? Do they watch movies? Do they read comics? :))) Regardless, if you're going to go all out for a SA commission, better to wait for more schematics. Don't want to waste your money. By the way... great sign idea "Searching for Steve Rogers". Most Cap's I meet at cons are a bit wary of me.... can't imagine why. :behave Perhaps after Civil War, we'll all be chummier.

Happy hunting.

LOL, well, not the CW civvies Bucky look, they apparently didn't, and that was even when I had the sign with me and everything, the metal arm and hand, and the whole kit was as accurate as, of course, we could've known at the time what with the limited glimpses of the colour scheme up to then....I'd figured that I'd made it as perfectly and readily apparent - blatantly obvious, even LOL! - as 'twas possible to get, yet much to my surprise and, yeah, admitted disappointment, no one did seem to cotton to it....I was still totally glad I'd done it, of course, but even so that experience did leave me distinctly nonplussed at the time. I rather suspect that's less likely to happen now, though, and as time goes on, up to May....now people have seen the trailer and the teaser thus far, it's widely and commonly known, so to my way of thinking they really have just no excuse. ;) :p

And oh indeed all-told I do reckon that it's better to wait on tackling the CW jacket until more and better reference is had....trying to make a go of it too early only to discover that I'd maybe get some of the details off, that would really be distressing and 'twould drive me downright crazy, likely as not. At least now I had a plethora, indeed a positive ton and then some, of the highest-quality and most thorough reference pics for the WS jacket to send my commissioner, and that's quite enough to be going on with for now....means there's that much more to look forward to later on when we can really look at the CW gear, the jacket and more, and that way nail it. And that, to me, is worth the world of confidence that I find it surely inspires. :D

Also heh yeah, now you mention it, I guess that maybe they've been a mite wary of me too on occasion....would definitely explain some reactions I seem to get, which again I generally try to take as some form of compliment, LOL! Ah, well, maybe the Cap's we find will be rather more amenable to us, rather more on our side of things now, especially since we are all of course very much #TeamCap....and also because, as the Bucky's in the equation, I'm sure that we'll find ourselves rather most inclined to try beating on any and all Tony Stark's we come across. (with affection and all in fun, but of course!) :D LOL, like me, for instance....how even I'll restrain myself from trying to aim every pointy and shooty thing I have at any Tony Starks/Iron Men I come across, I can't even know, but I swear my Cap friends might have to hold me back. :)

Oh.. that makes more sense. You were too "early" in your Bucky civvies after the Ant Man trailer. I suppose that is excusable. Just hoping the Cap's I see are more friendly and yes... Iron Men... beware. :)

Aaaaaaaaand cosplay achievement officially unlocked - I found pretty well the perfect outermost jacket today, a most fortuitous find....I might end up dyeing it a darker army olive, and maybe there's but the wee-est smidgen of modding which could be done to slightly change the shape of the breast pockets from rectangular to more trianglular, and possibly finding some new small buttons to match the ones on his jacket, but....those strike me as like the most relatively minor of things and not at all worth worrying about in any way - and they'll definitely be easily enough sussed out, for sure! But as it stands right now, the whole CW civvies Bucky cosplay, I've got it done, it's all settled and sorted and I honestly couldn't be happier....or more pleasantly surprised by how shockingly easy it was in some respects! Way more so than I can remember being the case for, well, really any of my cosplays otherwise, civvies version or not, obviously, LOL! Though I think what may gobsmack me even more is that as far as I can reckon it this cosplay in its entirety only cost less than $40. The jacket today didn't even cost me $5, as it turned out, it was on such a discount!....honestly, stuff like this, how even does it happen....all's I can do yet again is attribute it to fate or kismet or the like. :D

Good news! Where did you find it? The jacket that is...

kcail1

Welp, it was actually an utmost fortuitous thrift store find - I totally didn't expect to find something so perfect, literally exactly what I was most ideally hoping to find but, the whole time, I knew better than to expect that for sure I would find something at least viable or potential....I couldn't be sure, naturally, so at the very least I figured it was worth a peruse-about and that way I could say I'd given it an attempt, to that end, before checking elsewhere online....the ol' college try, as it were. :) But indeed, yep, it was a true thrift store find, I literally just nosed through both the mens and womens jackets sections looking specifically for whatever I could find that was olive green, dark olive, in that family....and I went from there! And, actually, when I put it all together to get a proper feel for it that way, I quite liked how it all came together....gotta say that it definitely works for me, even as it is, and yes that's even with me admittedly feeling like I should do something with the lining of the outermost jacket so it's maybe at least slightly darker....but really, though, on the grand scale of issues to take with it or stuff to worry about....doesn't even register, by my kenning! :) LOL, here's at least a small smidgen of some test shots I impulsively played around with....figured that I might as well, right....? :D

NICE work! You are an exceptionally convincing Bucky! Great jacket. Very excellent find and very serendipitous! HAVE YOU SEEN THE NEW TRAILER! Oh my goodness!!!! Makes me dislike Iron Even more (in jest of course- these are only comics, not IRL.)

Went to Con this weekend... last year I saw no less than 3 Iron Men. This year... none. Not one. But I guess they "knew" #TeamCap would be in force.

LOL, awesome!! Totally represent! :D I'm ever so proud of you. :) Too right that Tony Stark would be too much of a coward to show his face....heck, he has to hide behind his fancy shiny armour before he thinks that he stands even the proverbial snowball's chance in Tartarus of taking on Cap; that's the only way he'll ever risk it, otherwise of course he knows he'll get pulverized....and very rightfully so, says I. ;) *lol*

Oh....! Had a thought, curious if anyone's yet managed to come up with any potential, viable options or places to look, to this end....I am, now, wondering if it might well be worth trying to ferret out something for the backpack, actually - ever more so in light of a certain revelation Sebastian Stan made re: the contents of Bucky's backpack in CW, which, owwwww my heart and I literally broke down crying this morning, like uglysobbing in public and I didn't even care who knew it or what they must've thought, when I read that news....and I still am not even remotely okay with it, still am not able to handle it, true enough, oh my feels-! (and all the more so given that I'd already been creating something like it anyway, just all on my own, for the cosplay....and then suddenly Sebs up and confirms a thing like this, which, perfectly well timely I daresay) Do we have a notion of any kind, then, as re: the backpack, and where might be a good place or three to nose around for a thing like that....what kind of style or make, what features or look/design to generally look for....do we have any idea? I mean, it doesn't seem anything particularly otherworldly or exotic, LOL.... ;)

OH my gosh. I went to look up that news and YES! Knowing the contents of that back pack makes me want to write piles of fan fic.

Actually up to now, I have not paid one bit of attention to the pack. But I'll see if I can find something. Screen time for that item is a bit of a premium.

I actually think I might have made a pretty well perfect find for it - utmost fortuitous, literally just stumbled across it in the midst of pondering it, trying to work it out, with another friend as we were both of us ogling the screencaps but mainly the pics from the stunt filming, since those were where we seemed to get the best look at the backpack....she made a few suggestions but we hadn't managed to come across anything concrete, and then suddenly, bam, think I might have chanced across just exactly the thing on Amazon....need to look into it a bit more and see if it will in fact work, but yeah, far as I can tell it will....! Really, with this cosplay, I'm guessing that nothing should surprise me at this point in terms of such fortuitousness. ;)

At this point, I would not be surprised at anything. It's kind of *weird* how we've all found these things. Just strange. (Dr. Strange anywhere?)

kcail1

Ehehehehe absolute and total truth for sure, and maybe it does all come back to how I've been feeling about it for mine own part....fate, kismet, predestination, meant to be, pure and simple....really not quite sure what else it could possibly be. :D Us finding favour with the cosplay gods themselves? To be sure and I'll take it! :) But, yeah, I guess now, especially in light of the news from Sebastian Stan yesterday which just totally wrecked us all and then some, well, probably as apt a time as any to think about getting back to the dreaming up of some journal entries of mine own to be toting around in said backpack....so I can be in the cosplay and pull those out and just start reading them and look all tragic and memory-struggling and, oh, the feels that shall result. ;) LOL!
