Just watched the NEW Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xuiU0Z99wo and the under shirt is definitely grey.
Also the shirt is more a cranberry/burgundy.
Anyone found a good jacket (the Black one - not the green canvas) ? I'm thinking about modifying my husband's old jacket but it's not close to the body.
And I'm a lady... so I'm leaving some Beard tutorials here since I can't hide my face in my mask for this cosplay ( in case any other ladies are interested)

Those were seriously awesome tutorials! I loved watching the transformations!
I'm also looking for something for the black jacket, but it has to be relatively cheap if I'm going to be cutting an arm off of it, lol. I haven't had any luck so far!
I trolled our local sporting goods shops (Dicks, Academy Sports, Cabela's) for sales on coats (Season clear outs), but couldn't find a match. It was either a fleece or something more parka-like (too heavy). I've looked at Goodwill too, but with no luck. I'll keep looking since inventory at Goodwill changes often.
Glad you like the beard tutorial. I'll have to get some make up and try it. It just looks ... time consuming. But I'm not trying to gender-bend but BE Bucky . Love your Logan. Great work on your avatar picture.
I can't sew but might just go for it with the hand-me down I have. But first I need to fix my kid's Captain Phasma (which is taking all my time.)

I'll have to check out that beard tutorial as well, thanks so much for it - usually of course I'm just all kinds of intimidating/terrifying (except for the adorable wee kidlets who instinctively know that Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier is a victim, not a villain, and so come rushing right up and hug my legs accordingly, LOL!) behind the mask and suchlike....never exactly had much luck in approximating the bearded look, mineself, so I've been keen indeed to find something that might actually work!I wouldn't exactly call it a "gender-bent" thing, though, if we of the more feminine persuasion are using a thing like that to get the proper look....it literally is just "being Bucky", pure and simple, that's all there is to it....just being, flat-out.
I'm currently trying to suss out what maybe to do about the Henley, because as yesterday's trailer makes quite clear, that is definitely rather more a cranberry colour - which completely flies in the face of what I managed to do with the dye jobs I attempted on mine....grrr, argh, I declare!....though to be sure, in retrospect I've wondered if maybe my issues with the dye jobs were down to the fact that I didn't have the chance to do them in actual boiling water....on the stove top, in an appropriate pot....do we think that might have something to do with it? Or maybe down to not going with an actual dark red so much as, well....what, I wonder? For that matter, actually finding one which was close enough in colour, as-is, being able to buy it - that would simple things up ever so much!.... Anyone know where such could be located? Even bought online, for anyone maybe not able to get to the stores in person?
(oh, a cosplayer's life....!)
Yeah, I've been checking thrift stores too, and end-of-season sales, and no luck. I'm starting to think I might be better off doing his street clothes version, but I'd rather do his combat look!
Though I will be doing a female version because I'm too lazy to figure out makeup. Also, I'm not really interested in binding, and I would have to do that to do a proper male version.
Thanks! That was one of my first costumes. I would like to do the yellow suit version at some point, but that involves sewing, and it's not my strength! So it's on the back burner for now. I really do need to sign up for some sewing lessons at some point. Maybe then I could actually make a Bucky jacket with one arm so I don't have to worry about cutting an arm off of an existing (possibly expensive) coat!
Loki... you are so fun to read. Love your comments always. Here is the RIT dye chart for the reds. https://www.ritstudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/ColorRit_FINAL.pdf Cool Red # 146 looks like the best match.
Hopefully an agreeable color can be found! Maybe even dying a white Henley? I have used simply hot water from the tap, not boiling and got great results. Sometimes adding salt (kosher or large grain) helps to make the dye set better and rinse out less. Previously above, we located the actualy henley used but it costs $80 + bucks. I have my limits.
Here are some shots from the trailer (best I could find right now) of the shirt (yeah... just his sleeve while he's trying to kill Stark... *Don't blame him*) and his black jacket.

Nice... I just use a sports bra and that works just fine under my underarmor shirt. As for sewing... I don't know how to either ( I can hem and do basics) but I just wing it and do it by hand. Pretty crazy but I have made several things for my kid (Harry Potter Robe, Jedi tunic etc) so you can do it. I just don't have time to do a class.
Regardless... good luck!

Man oh man, I just can't help feeling like there's just *gotta* be a better or more ideal option, though, than necessarily having to resort to Rit dyeing which can be such an uncertain thing, in my own experience....as I mentioned, it hasn't exactly gone quite as intended for me, with either of the Henleys I tried....at the time they seemed to work well enough but now, of course, that we have us this new teaser, it's more readily apparent what's actually called for, which, argh, I reiterate. I did everything right with my earlier dyeing attempts (repeatedly, actually), salt and the hottest water I could get without being able to use the stove top method, and it never did go as dark....or even as uniform, for that matter....as I was naturally hoping and expecting, being as both were 100% cotton. One was just slightly off-white in its original colour, but still didn't go dark enough a red - and that was with me leaving it in easily as long as the box specified, and even a bit past that! My travails in that respect have just got me thinking that there has to be a more viable option, after all....if not the actual SA Henley itself, since I'm getting the impression that might not be available at all in any shade, then surely something near enough....? (I'm not sure that trying again with that one or the other, both of which are like this rather noticeably paler red, will even work - given how I attempted it multiple times....?)
Also, yes, you are absolutely right, don't blame him, indeed, because really any of us in Bucky's position here would want to do the exact same to Tony Stark....he's so impossibly provoking and so utterly arrogant and self-aggrandizing, so puffed up on his own self-importance and ego and so completely selfish that he gives no thought to the consequences of his own actions - and then somehow everyone else ends up paying the price for them yet again!....I mean, honestly, it seems to me that all Tony really has to do is just open his mouth here, and goodness only knows how he's provoked or goaded Bucky with action or word such that the latter is angry enough to lash out like this....it's Tony Stark, I mean, is anyone really surprised here?
Please see my post about a henley... I picked one up at H&M today. $10! It's almost a perfect match (see photo below) to the color. The fabric is a bit thin and I'm not sure what size you take, but I think it was a good option.
And I'm wondering how many "fights" I'm going to get into with Iron Men at various comic cons. Loved your analysis.

kcail1, do you know, I think I could just kiss you, seriously!- and all I can think to attribute this to is sheer predestination, fate, kismet pure and simple, it's one of the most fortuitous things I think I've had happen in recent memory....but when I got the E-mail notification of your thread reply and I checked out your post re: finding the burgundy Henley at H&M, of all places....would you believe that I was literally across the street from one?
Indeed, as a matter of fact I had browsed in there not even ten minutes prior, nosed around upstairs in the mens' section and actually had found one of those henleys, but it was an XL which is vastly rather more than my size so I didn't doubt I'd just be swimming in the thing....so I had to set that one aside, albeit with some reluctance as it seemed even then (and even under the store lighting which can be just all kinds of deceptive, don't we know that well-!) like it was at least some kind of colour match for the actual one. But the XL seemed like the only one they had left, so I had to give it a pass....except then I perused back in there, showed the sales clerk the trailer pic and then yours, and he was instantly like "oh yeah, we've got that", and pointed out a whole rack of 'em which I hadn't even seen originally - and here was me thinking that I'd made a thorough search of it! Argh indeed!
I decided to go with the medium, larger than the size I might otherwise have, since of course the sleeve - even with that amount of stretch to it - will have to fit over the metal arm....but indeed I've gotta say that this looks to be perfectly well the thing! And definitely by far and away better than even my other prior attempts with hand-dyeing those other shirts....which of course I'll still keep because they're totally comfy and good for lounging around in, LOL.Truly, though, this was just one of the most fortuitous or fated happenstances I could even reckon....you suggest the H&M one and there's one literally right across the street from me....things like this are, I suppose, just wholly inexplicable, they just happen, but then that's all the more reason to love 'em.
Bless you for this fabulous find!
Also, hehe ohhhh my yes, I can already tell that I too am gonna be feeling seriously goaded to pick just all manner of fights - playfully so and all in fun, of course! - with any and all Iron Men and Tony Stark's I see at cons now....and since I gather I can be quite intimidating when I get in that mode and hit that "murder strut" (though in the trailer it more looks like he's just charging in a state of pure emotional anger - that's not the deliberate, methodical prowling of the Winter Soldier, not the more purposeful gait of the Asset, that's just all an explosion of emotion and of rage or resentment or I don't even know what, but clearly Tony Stark has provoked it which should surprise just absolutely no one!) - hehe, well, I quite look forward to them seeing me coming right straight for 'em and maybe they'll back right off, LOL! If not, well, any Steve Rogers around is quite possibly going to have to physically restrain me from trying to fillet open said Iron Man/Tony Stark like a tuna can.*chuckling*
Hm, just a simple dark grey tee....hopefully not the most impossible part of this to be located and sorted out....and man oh man do I ever sincerely hope I didn't just jinx it by saying that.Trying to find a dark blue baseball cap that doesn't have some kind of logo or decoration on it, though, that's another matter - though I will admit that I have been seriously tempted to pick up the dark blue cap with Cap's shield embroidered on it, for reasons of sheer perfect adorableness.
Thanks for reminding me I'll have to peruse about for that part next - though after that most fortuitous and fabulous Henley find, (for which I'll be forevermore grateful to you, truly indebted, I swear - LOL!
) well, definitely that inspired a sense of increased optimism for sure.
