Since quite a few of mine didn't survive some treatments of other goldplaters (who also tried with several chemicals), I guess the metal is not very hard. I assume these are cast in pewter. After all these are pieces of a board game, and quite some boardgame pieces are pewter.Didn’t snap a picture but should be getting a call back today or early next week. May consult her about some possible ways to take the finish off myself, preferably chemically. I looked it up but without knowing the properties of the finish and metal it’s hard. So many different techniques for different metals.
Yeah, if you have to polish each coin, then indeed you are more paying for the labour than for the gold. I don't think this would be the way to go.If she has to polish each one manually, I imagine the price for a second run would go up, assuming she even agrees to do them all. I’ll post photos once I get them back regardless!
