Interest Pirates: Screen Accurate Gold Plated Aztec Gold Coin

Didn’t snap a picture but should be getting a call back today or early next week. May consult her about some possible ways to take the finish off myself, preferably chemically. I looked it up but without knowing the properties of the finish and metal it’s hard. So many different techniques for different metals.
Since quite a few of mine didn't survive some treatments of other goldplaters (who also tried with several chemicals), I guess the metal is not very hard. I assume these are cast in pewter. After all these are pieces of a board game, and quite some boardgame pieces are pewter.
If she has to polish each one manually, I imagine the price for a second run would go up, assuming she even agrees to do them all. I’ll post photos once I get them back regardless!
Yeah, if you have to polish each coin, then indeed you are more paying for the labour than for the gold. I don't think this would be the way to go.

My coin came in today and it is perfect! Pictures don't do it justice. Thank you.

Thanks! Nice pictures BTW, never managed to catch those details in my pictures ;).

The coin arrived today and looks GREAT, Thank You! I don't have a PoC display but think it will look good on my Indy shelf.

Nice, then all coins arrived, except one :-(. Buyer has been refunded, but too bad that not everybody got his coin. I hope motumikey will be able to do a run. If not I might team up with another RPF member to see if we can do a second limited run. We'll see...

There is already an RPF member who has a set of checkers I could work with... But it's all the hassle and risk of sending them over to the goldplater and funding this up front that makes me a bit reluctant for a second run. First see how motumikey 's search for a US based goldplater turns out...

If someone can deliver me the "base coins", I can look into another run. Just a matter of drilling the coins, contacting my goldplater to get a price quote and calculate how much a coin would cost. I don't have any spare checkers pieces, though and getting a complete set from the US will cost me a ton of import taxes. So if someone in the US could get these and send them over as a gift, I can do a scecond run and have the "base coin supplier" a free goldplated coin in return...

Hi Tom!

My name is Soren and I'm contacting you from Grossenhain, Germany.

I recently ordered the Elizabeth Swan necklace from MR, in remembrance of having owned and gifted them to others in the past (that was over 10 years ago). I feel so disappointed with it though.

I randomly came across your work and it made me register an account on rpf, in order to reach out to you.

I truly love your rendering of this piece!

Your passion for detail and your fine-tuned sense for empowering the elements within the original design, make for an incredibly distinguished execution of the Aztec coin.

I am very interested in knowing whether it's possible to receive one from you.
I know the thread is from 2014 but I still feel compelled to try. I will also send this message to you personally.

I hope your son has made a successful recovery since then!

Thanks!
- Soren Nik
