pee-wee.jpgHi guys- been a while since i posted. I had some house issues at the beginning of the year and didnt feel like posting for a bit. Lets just say i dont have an ipad anymore:(. As i work out these issues. Im just glad i still have my bike. Make sure guys to write down the serial numbers to your bikes and photo them. In fact i been looking for gps locators that work on bikes lately.


I think Ryan hit it on the head with this project. Just wait it out and get the correct parts from the get go. I have pm'd a few people about the correct springer. You can get the 1995 schwinn cruiser springer and be set. Those have closest look for the money.


As far as that siren. I would just hold out for the correct persons siren. I have a few non working ones if anyone needs one.


As far as the chain goes i ended finding a great deal on 100ft of mr chain white plastic chain. It seems about 50 ft is all you can really get into one bag. It weighs a lot. We discussed this and think the movie stuff was white chain painted silver. I only have it one bag as i like to carry tools to fix stuff or change a flat. I think there is a phot of my bike with the chain out on the met someplace.
Its a bike after all and you cant expect help on a real bike ride. I have put many miles on my lightning darts. One popped after a 60 mile stint. It was the rear so i just have a chin chin for now. but may change over to some kevlar or punture resistant white walls so i don't have to worry about that some much. its worth the extra dough for nice tires and tubes.
 
What props do you think would spice up the background of a bike photoshoot? I've got one life size dummy I made for halloween last year that could easily become a clown statue. And a neat suit of armor. Not extremely Pee-wee, but somewhat Burton.
 
Well, I'm finally getting around to making a vacuum forming table and ordering some plastic, so I'll need to start on my bag forms. What's the best material to make the shapes from? Stacked pink foam or green floral foam with a plywood skeleton? Alternatively, I have about 20 pounds of WED clay in my room.
 
Just be careful with foam. With the heat and pressure of vacuum forming your master can actually melt to the plastic and bond with it, ruining all your hard work.
 
Ruddigger is right, the foam does melt very easily, that's why we used water-based cement because the regular cement got hot and melted the foam, we made fiberglas bags just for that reason, not vacuum form plastic, plastic has to be heated to 300 plus degrees to be formed and then has to let cool to get the shape, we scuplted the plugs almost to size, put a coat of sheetrock over the foam, sanded it, then went over that with a coat of chopped fiberglas automotive body filler, and sanded it down to the size and shape we wanted, then primed,painted,and cleared them, before we made the molds, because the nicer and smoother your plugs are, the nicer your molds will be, which means less finish work in the end, a very tedious pain in the A** to say the least.

My original bags were sculpted out of the heavy yellow foam it called high density foam. It comes in different pound densities it is the same stuff surfboards are made of best to do like either rudd or billy did and coat it with resin and fiberglass or some hard material that will take heat.

Is there a good way of making the bags quickly removable? I think I remember someone a while back with three brackets on each bag that could be disconnected by taking out a screw and siding them off or something

I used key hole brackets on mine. When I transported my bike, I just removed the center console (held on with 2 bolts) and then the bags just lifted up and boom!

Has anyone hooked up the brake lever to make it functional? I'm debating on placing a caliper brake on the front wheel where it will perform better, or the back wheel where it will be hidden.
 
If you use a new or nos coaster setup you should be fine. I would only have a caliper front if you have a caliper rear, caliper brakes grab better than coasters and may cause a forward endo. This a decent weight cruiser in the end. You don't have to ride so fast that you would need a lot brakei g power unless you live in a really hilly area. If that were the case you may want to make the 3 speed shifter actually as well. I used an NOS shimano hub it has worked well so far.
 
Wow, absolutely stunning work Brownie!, you're definitely taking it up a notch and going to have a show bike when it's done, better call Lloyd's of London and take out some insurance before Francis see's it.
