Pee-Wee's Big Adventure Bike

Yeah, let's try to keep it friendly and share ideas and help each other out, it's hard enough to build these things in the first place, like Kurt said, you have to pick what you like the best and build that, it's all about the idea you have in your head of any particular prop, I'm building an idealized version of the hero bike that Pee-wee pulls out of the hedges, the first bike shown, and I'm doing as good of a "professional" job that I can, because I like it nice and "glossy", and I don't care who likes it or not, they don't have to ride it, I do.

Billy, those saddlebags are unbelievably awesome! If Large Marge's ghost was here, she'd say "They was the best saddlebags I ever seen."

Thanks Jack!, it sure wasn't easy, a ton of man hours went into them, as anyone who attempted it their selves know what I mean, we haven't ever done any fiberglass mold work before, it was a learning experience for sure, but our labor paid off, I'm glad I had my dad and brother to work with, three heads are better than one, I wanted to tackle the hard stuff first, so the rest of it should be easier I hope, I'm going to do the chain guard next and then the skirt guards, then I should have it whipped.

Billy what model tail light did you use in you bags? They seem to fit nice. I'll be looking up the repop signal stat info and posting it here, i forgot the company name a couple people have asked about it, i also gave Progun the sling ring size, i had some on my desk at work, but im on trip right now and can't get any of that info, i also cleaned out my send messages recent and lost that one.

I used Leds in my rear lights with a switch in one of the bags, Ruddigger suggested using the black box switch, which would be easier to activate.

Found the lens at another vendor. See page 18-36 in this

Part 866-87

You guys will have to contact the company, the other company i got mine from was not very good, it was drop shipped by someone else anyhow.

Rockin' info Abe. I'll definitely be contacting them soon. I'll let everyone know what I found out when I speak with them.

UPDATE: Called the company & should be contacted by a rep soon, hopefully tomorrow.

they are trailer back up lights, Peterson #392

The chrome ring really ties the light together (to paraphrase The Dude).

billy - Did you just follow the same foam sculpt method others have done in this thread? Just wondering, yours turned out fantastic .. any advice beyond what's been posted already (or photos of your process) would be great. I'm saving the saddlebags for last ..

Duckbutt

Thanks Duckbutt, Yes, I looked through this thread at the pictures of everyone's progress but there was no instructions on what to do, so I watched all the videos on youtube about plugs, mold making, and laying the fiberglass that I could and the guy that sold the material I bought gave me some tips, Pm me your number and I tell you all about it, I'm too lazy to type everything out, it would take up five pages.

For those still looking for Signal Stats...

Just got off the phone with one of the reps at the company. Unfortunately the price is higher than I am happy with (I was hoping for the $6-7 range), but I wanted to give everyone the information anyway.

He said that each one is $11.34/piece (red or amber). No minimum. He said there would be a slight price break if there was an order of 25 or more, but even then the discount wouldn't be significant.

Their phone number is 908.647.0500 if anyone wants to order any.

that's kinda high just for the lenses, but I guess if yours are trashed, or they crack trying to get them out of the bezel, guess we better be thankful they are available.
great info., Thanks for checking.

You have search other lens distributors, i know one i got them from was in San Diego. But they all order their lens from same place. I think i got them in the 8 dollar range, i made .25" plastic mounts and mounted them inside the bags, they have a through hole at the rear of the bags. They are done like the scene where the bike shoots the oil slick.
The bike at the hollywood museum have holes drilled through the center of them and the are mounted right to the bags, they non functional.
If i find the other vendor info, i think that guy had the whole assembly, but it would too bulk to mount inside the bags.

Does anyone have pics of how to attach the spinners to the front spokes? all my attempts look terrible, wires all over that are very visible!

I used metal wire. Only a small bit should be visible from the outside, and you can paint it to match.

Two different sellers with lightning darts on ratrods, if anyone is looking
I made it home, I looked up and measured my trim rings, they are the 2.5" outer, 2.0" inner diameter small aluminum rings.

I used tiny zip-ties for my spinner disks and fender skirts. They're available in red and white so it's easy to make them discreet.
