Pee-Wee's Big Adventure Bike

anyone have any interest in this? was my first Pee wee x1 style top case..i say style as its really not the correct shape or size..but probally 99% of people would never know..made of foam wood fiberglass and bondo..its not perfect but works..throw a rear lense on and run it. im building a new one so figured rather than collect some dust id offer it up..make an offer or possible swap..i do need the correct mickey bell as i seem to be collecting the wrong ones now..duhl! its about 16" long 7"wide and 6" high.

T-Rex bell.

I thought I'd share these two awesome bells that I picked up today at a little bike shop here in town.

Exhibit B:

Ten bucks each.
The bottom of the bell is stamped 'Made In 04 Germany' and the black plastic thumb button has 'REICH' cast into the top edge.

The image isn't 'correct', but they seem more Pee-Wee in spirit to me than Mickey Mouse kicking a soccer ball. Not to mention the fact that the bike shop I got them from is exactly one block East of where the Alamo Rolling Roadshow screened a 35mm print of Pee Wee's Big Adventure two years ago. Coincidence? I don't think so! And what's more, . . . is this something you can share with the rest of us, Amazing Larry?

Nice find Bobby, I was looking for modern versions of the Riech bells. I was doing a graphic change one of my incorrect bells this week. I'll post images Tuesday, it's at work and I have to clear coat the decal to seal it in.

I am definitely interested in this piece. I'll PM you. Thanks!

Close, but not quite. The real mirror has a clear reflector on the back, and no bend at the bottom of the stem, if memory serves.

ya i havnt seen the correct style available new. took me a while to get one and even mine has a amber reflector. Abe any chance on a how to of swapping reflectors?

Hey guys, Lostcasket got me all excited for a bit there. Yes, it should only have one bend at the top of the stem and a white reflector on the back.

I am going to be doing the same exact thing one one of my extra mirrors. Basically there is two ways to do it, one would be to carefully cut in teeth into the step part of the reflector, creating fingers that should give a bit and pop in.

The other way would be filing in a thread into that same step part, so essentially you twist the reflector into the hole.

I got the donor reflectors from one of those rectangular Schwinn mirrors with two white reflectors.
Note that I took another donor mirror apart and it had a short piece of clear tube that held the reflector up in place.

The one here in the center is the exact style of mirror that the 4" mirror is on the bike. Unfortunately it was only 3.5" instead of 4" and of course this one had an orange reflector instead of white. This would have been a decent stand in for only $8 bucks.

sure its not the one all the way on the right? with a 1.5 " reflector same as the rectangular ones..i ordered up a couple of the rectangle ones..on to pilfer from and one for my old muscle bike. thanks Abe for the how to gonna be doing it here shortly

How do these handle bars look? Will they work for a pee wee bike?

CRUISER BICYCLE HANDLE BAR LONG HORN BIKE DOUBLE STEM | eBay

go through and re-read the first few pages, I think everything is spelled out.

I would use Wald 898 atleast you can find them on amazon or ebay at a similar price, what you really want is bars that are like the 989's but at 30" width. The ones you found there seem a bit narrow in the center. it may be the image.

Here are some images of one of the bells I coverted over to the correct image, I might give it another go. Note the gold edge, when I got this bell, it came that way. Also note that the tooled in hash line are opposite.
Also see attached image of one of my handlebar setups, I put a 3.5" Royce Union mirror as a place holder.

looks great Abe, the mickey bells seem somewhat easy to find in the correct shape..just not the correct decal.

Handlebars are looking great, Abe!

Yeah youre right... The reflector is 1.5" in diameter. The proportions throw off the way it looks because the mirror is only 3.5" in diameter. Thanks for catching that. Ill post some pics and measurements of my mirror when i get a chance.

Ha, one incorrect eBay link and now everybody is in mirror mode. The Pee-wee Jr. bike is rideable now, (I rode it down the street myself, which wasn't easy and looked ridiculous.) Just needs a few more touches, like some red tubing, a bell, and I'm going to put a speedo where the compass goes. Paint is drying on the wheel swirlies, which I made out of CD-R's.

I got the reflector changed out on one of my 4.00 mirrors, it is very difficult. The test mirror I did was a 3.5 Royce Union mirror and that has about .25" depth, so you can actually slide in the reflector at an angle and click it into place, the real mirror is really thin and it took a lot shaving down and adjusting to get the reflector in. I might pull it out and add some clear epoxy to prevent it from popping out randomly.

It looks the same mirror as Ed's below, one thing though, my original reflector was more snowflake like see image, I found one of these correct mirrors sold on ebay at the beginning of last year, if you were lucky you got it.
