Pee-Wee's Big Adventure Bike

Speaking of mirrors, i got a chance to measure up the 4" mirror and reflector on my bicycle. Bottom pic for size comparison to regular 3" mirror.

Ha, you HAD to throw the tiger on there... Still jealous. The mirror look really good, I've gotta keep my eyes peeled for a 4".

Almost finished with the Pee-wee Jr bike. Put the speedo on, (it works!) and finished up the wheel swirlies. I also got a NOS front fender on there.

And a video of the swirlies swirling.

That little bike is looking better and better (it almost looks candy red in the last photo), I finally got the microphone brackets, I bent them as needed and got screws, I feel like I should have them plated, just zinc plated. The look just like the originals.

hey guys, i got back from my 10 hour journey thru ice snow and slush last night..i visited the bicycle museum of america to see the real x1 on display...i took a camera tape measure and notebook. let me say James at the museum was a really nice guy..one of the nicest i met in a long time. i fully expected a look no touch kinda place..but not so. he pulled it out and let me measure inspect and photograph all over it..it was three hours of total geek awesomness..i was amazed that from just screenshot building my bike was a lot like it. this bike definatly was the one used in the chase scene. it has the holes etc in the rear bags from where the oil squirters used to be and other holes i screen matched. it was truly a sweet time and i had a smile on my face the whole time. i had also wondered why beforehand why they would spend so much on it but not try and replace or replicate the missing objects? but basically its just they dont seem to know. James took down notes from me on what was missing and how it should be laid out. he even said that he knows he has a correct rocket ray in museum storage after i pointed one out off another bike. ill post up some pics tomorrow (left my camera cable at work) i am also gonna make some duplicates of items im remaking to donate to them to help them complete it. the museum itself was a really cool place. lots of really neat bikes..ya im still glowing

Awesome news!

Good to hear that the real bike will get further restoration done to it and good to hear that accurate measurements have been taken for the fan community!

We are just a little closer to having perfect pee wee bikes!

Please post any and all info/measurements/photos you can when you can. :)

Nick,
I totally don't agree with that new bike, it was a Pee Wee bike build off of sorts to promote some Schwinn Electric bikes at Sturgis.

Oh yeah. It's totally fugly. And lazy! NothIng interesting really done to it. A wasted opportunity. :/

Still an interesting curiosity in pee wee bike history.

Do to the mass hysteria I seemed to cause with my last post.. "Wrong Mirrors"
I thought it only right to give and offering to the forum God's.

Anyone who still doesn't have the correct bell. But plans on making their
own. Here is a mock up of the Mickey mouse design I made for myself.

Enjoy!

Nick that response cracked me up...haha .those Pee-wee loops kill me. lostcasket ive had that mickey image in my head for weeks now, that would make a killer t shirt also??? or maybe some wallpaper to drive myself even more crazy. no bike could replace the X1..but it was still cool to see Pee-wee.

The bike in Hollywood has the yellow shirt version of that, I think the hero bike in the movie does as well. In the movie screen caps it just does not look all green. I have clean AI art for this if anyone wants it PM me.

heres the bell that was on it, an inside shot of the rear case( note broken lense, velcro was applied by museum as hinge is broke off) and a latch pic. these bags didnt open up.

dudes......eat your hearts out..haha..thats my chubby self sitting on a original X1.

You suck!! I'm jealous! Wow that material on the rear bags looks thick.
Was the chainguard metal?
I'll probably end up going to that museum sometime this year. Also that bike show they have is also a swap I believe.
