Pee-Wee's Big Adventure Bike

Anybody know where the best place to find a cheap delta light or something that looks similar? I haven't seen any delta lights on ebay recently.

There's actually quite a few Delta Rockets on ebay. In terms of finding something similar, it really depends on what accuracy you're looking for. There's plenty of cruiser style headlamps on ebay, that look vaguely similar, but they're usually only a few dollars less than the real deal, so it's best just to get the real thing. Again, it solely depends on what you deem accurate.

Actually in case anyone's also looking for fenders and the headlamp. There a 1950's schwinn ducktail fender set with springer fork indents for sale on ebay and it includes the rocket ray. The original didn't have the fork indents. but it would look too bad on a replica. item: 271755092028

A super rocket ray just sold on ebay a few days ago, they pop up just have to be patient. I'm on my 6th one now, my schwinn buddies saw mine and I restored some for their displays and offices. IMG_3725.jpg

unfortunately delta rocket rays and "cheap" don't go together in the same sentence, there are a few new repops on ebay right now for around a hundred dollars shipped, that's the best you can do, unless you substitute a lesser light or buy a rusty original and spray bomb it, but, they can be as much or more than a new repop.

Check out this item I found on eBay: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=131407234535&alt=web

This one just sold on ebay

Are any of those "retro vintage" LED bike headlights about the same or similar size? Because I'm wondering if I can fabricate some sort of plastic shell to give it the same shape as one of the delta lights.

I don't know what to tell you, either wait and see if you can snag one cheap, or use a less expensive light, but trying to fabricate one sounds like too much trouble to me, I'll keep my eye out for you, I'll let you know if I run across anything, or you could try and talk Frank out of one of his that the Schwinn Fairy gave him.

Yup, replicating a delta from a modern headlamp is really not cost effective as you have to spend money on more materials. It's preferable to just make or buy a reproduction from an original. If anyone can find or produce a cheap delta I'd be happy to buy one as well. I can use either model, super or just the normal one.

Actually, I have most of the materials I need, except the actual light. I've got some moldable plastic which can easily be shaped, or I could make some shapes from foam and vac form them. Wouldn't be the mist sturdy, but then again it is going to be placed over the shell of the light which is already metal.

Well, finally had some spare time, so I could get that pesky rivet holding that brace off. Later I'm gonna get a strip of aluminum to make that fabricated one on the rear.

In other news, I was able to start disassembling the springer fork and prime it and the fenders. Now that it's apart, I can really see those differences between the new and the originals.

Looking good indianabric, every little bit helps, today is a good day to get something done on your project, except I'm too busy scooping the foot of snow we got last night and today, and then there's that Super Bowl thing.

Billy- the schwinn fairy has been very good to me over the years.
I can't complain either, he's been pretty good to me too, though I think he's spending more time at your house than mine.

Yeah, that snow hindered my chances of going to Home Depot today. Luckily, a good samaritan on the block used his snowblower on the whole sidewalk and everyone's walkways.
And damn, while giving a second coat to one of the fenders, I dropped it and fingerprinted it, so I'm gonna have to wait for it to dry, then sand, then coat again. How fun.
