Pee-Wee's Big Adventure Bike

I know this has probably been answered before, but I couldn't find the page. What kind of kickstand was on the bike? Greenfield?

Droidboy: Those badges look awesome! Nice work!

Also, I found a nice dx frame on thecabe. It claims to be '41 but after a quick lookup of the serial number, it's seems to be a 1952 chicago dx. It has the matching tank, and I've emailed him an offer. Waiting for a response.

The tank emblems are mirrored but identical to each other. I'm pretty happy with them. Getting to use a screen used one really helped in allowing me to get it right but idealized. Of course one could still cover it in chrome tape if one wanted.

Dalek, there are both styles with and without kick stands, make sure the rear dropout areas are hooked forward like modern bicycles, that the easiest tell on frames. The greenfield stands can be bought on ebay or Niagara cycle. If you can also buy the rubber tip at the same time, i have bought one yet and have to put a piece of carpet on my hardwood floor

Thankfully I have carpet. :lol But that dx on thecabe doesn't have a hooked dropout, it's straight:

However the DX in South Carolina that I posted eariler does have the proper dropout and from what I can tell in has the kickstand, the fenders, and what appears to be some decent handlebars. It's also incredibly cheap, the guy brought it down to $240. I'm just waiting for a response on the bike above cause it has the tank. I wasn't too sure about the springer fork though.

I'd go with the other one if you can. Tanks are easier to get than proper fenders plus it's an entire bike.

That bike can still be built up as a challenger, it would suck to knock out that paint, i have see those saved. That is a prewar frame. The springer is different as well.

I believe its called a bf goodrich challenger, with that tank art. The price is a bit high as you sometimes see those complete pop up on ebay for around that much or couple hundred more.

One day I really want to do another bike that isn't a Pee Wee bike. Just a good old fashioned out of the box Schwinn. Or maybe the X1 motorcycle. I haven't decided :)

Here are a couple of pics of my tank in progress. I've got everything cut out and glued into place. I'm just waiting on it all to dry so I can get to the putty work and prep it for paint.

I will have to shape the fender hole once my bike comes back from the shop, but I'm not expecting that to be too big of a deal.

A little more work done today on the bags. I'm putting the hardware in place so that I can get it all ready for paint.

The bags will mount on the bike with these key holes and then the center tank will screw to the fender, locking it all in place. This way with only two screws I can remove all of it.

Did you use mdf on the back? Be careful mdf tends the crack sometimes, keep and eye on it if you actually ride the bike a lot. The rides get really bumpy, both ryan and i had to change the tiger mounting bracket to a heavier gauge steel. I do like the hangar clips, makes it easy to removal the bags, are you going to bolt in the top bag through?

i used 3/8 inch plywood and then added proper color vinyl to cover it. I think i have actually picked up the the bike from the rear back just to see if everything is tight.

Those look great! What color red ate you using?

Anyone have one cmc hoop for sale? Found one today but won't have it till tomorrow.

The saddlebags are entirely fiberglass. The underside of the center tank is PVC.

The top tank will be bolted directly to the fender. The real bikes had the center tank screwed to the fender using drywall screws. I'll probably use something a bit nicer :)

Turbo.....I am not sure what color red they powder coated it, but it's a really close match to the paint sample I have. I'll color match the paint on the bags to the powder coat.
