PAINTING MY GREMLIN step by step--FINISHED pics POST#39

Wow, that looks great! Very very creepy.

Quick question - when thinning your Tamiya paint, what did you use and in what ratio? I'm a bit of an airbrush n00b so I'm still trying to nail that down - looks like you know what you're doing! :)

i just use tamiya's own thinner, i find it goes on better than the likes of ipa.

when i put the paint in the jar i add the thinner until the consistency of milk. it actually looks too thin but its not.

i then tip the bottle at an angle then flat again, i watch how quickly the paint runs off the inside of the glass, it should only take a few seconds, if it stays a good while then its too thick.

This is a great project (excellent idea turning it into a bust)
I think it's gonna look better than the one on screen. I always felt the paintjob on that guy was a bit to stiff. It took away the reptile-feel of the skin.

That turned out really great. Shoot the eyes with a bit of future floor wax to give them a nice shine and you're golden. :thumbsup

Just replied without looking a page 2 LOL!! Great result, and yeah, that reptile skin is really there!!!

i used johnsons klear on them

It looks great. Did you airbrush the pupils also...?

hand brushed with a fine brush and a steady hand, i had not done anything like that in a while, i was a little out of practise.

Ooh... never heard of that. Interesting.

its basically the same as the product you mentioned, its been a not so secret "trade secret" for years in the modelling world.

i just watched someone on ebay pay £20 for a bottle of the stuff.

oh i see one of the auctions say they stopped making it ........

Really nice original paint up on your Mohawk & great tutorial.:thumbsup

Makes me want to repaint my Jun 18" Stripe that is the wrong color.:rolleyes

Wow Chris.. If you don't mind me calling you that.. I'm pretty sure you have been called worse :p but that looks amazing now throw some water on it and make more.
