Painting a Rubie's Begins/TDK/TDKR Utility Belt

Hey, guys... I've got a painting question and was wondering if you could help.

I'm working on a sort of hybrid version Batman utility belt, and I'm using the Rubie's Begins/TDK/TDKR belt as the base. I want to paint it metallic black or maybe a gunmetal grey-- just whatever cool rattle can color I can find. But I was wondering if I should be using a specific kind of paint or certain process for the sort of semi-flexible plastic that the belt is made of. Should I just use general purpose paint? Or would the stuff specifically meant for plastic be better? It's not going to get a ton of wear-- this is strictly for display-- but at the same time, I don't want the finish scratching or flaking off as I reassemble all the pieces.

Any thoughts? Thanks for any help!

just prime it first with a primer rattle can, next use a acrylic rattle can of the color you want, finally to finish it off clear coat it rattle can to give it a glossy shine. That should work, its no different than painting a resin. Hope that helps

Cool... thanks, Persius! :thumbsup I'll give that treatment a try on a piece or two that I don't necessarily need, just to see how it goes-- and to evaluate for which color(s) I like and such. Thanks again!

Krylon Plastic Fusion is a good for pieces like that. Make sure to hit it with some high grit sand paper to help the paint stick. I find that mat clear coat photographs better than gloss, but to each his own.
