as always i am willing to share my mistakes, so here we go.
i THINK i made the quill holes too long, as whilst digging out the clay i lost approx 75% of them ( they came off with the clay ) , either that or the UK cold weather made the clay so hard as to grip on to them to tight, grrrr.
solution, as i removed the clay i marked each missing quill spike with a pencil mark, once all the clay is out and the few air bubbles have been repaired, i will DRILL the quill holes, then super glue cut down tooth picks in them, so giving the holes again, my only concern is the latex stickin to them , so i think i may look for some plastic ones, or just varnish the picks.
not a big issue, but i thought i would explain my devious plan to fix lol.
oh , if anyone has any better ideas, please feel free to advise
