Ok, I think reallly screwed up this time...I watched Firefly. Help?

Either way that thing (36" Firefly) is gonna be awesome!
Where did you get something like that?
It sounds so cool.
Wish there were pics.

Ask and you shall receive!

Built by RShanko (banned from the RPF)
Not any more being made, far as I know.
Kit was $250.
Got the kit fairly quickly, but I waited two years for the cockpit,
which, interestingly enough,
I received totally unexpectedly in the mail yesterday.
So, Ron and I are square at this point,
but, ya know....two...years...
Say no more.

I'm looking forward to building this.
It will never be the intricate thing of beauty that the Wolvster/QMx bird is,
but it only cost a fraction of the QMx Serenity's $2,495 price tag.
And, as you can tell by the 12oz. Mountain Dew can, it's a biggun'.

I thought (on subsequent viewings, I didn't catch it the first time,) that the scene on Miranda was interesting:

The camera is circling and spinning around, and Jayne (IIRC) claims that the people had "died for no reason." As soon as the words are out of his mouth, the camera stops on Wash...
Now that's interesting; I've seen Serenity several times and never noticed it...but I will from now on! (y)thumbsup

@ pennausamike...
Thanks for the pic... the firefly sure is a thing of beauty. Hope you finish her up real soon so I can see more pics of her in her prime.

ps - gotta have the Dew on a big job like that. ;)

Yep Rshanko did the kit, him and I are "mostly" square. He still owes me the electronics for the afterburners... at this point I don't think I'll be getting them. I kinda understand though, 1/2 thorugh this he got a C&D, tried to buy the liscense, got screwed on a lot of money somehow 0 I don't have the whole story. Plus there were several around here and on other modeling sites that were fighting with him about accuracy vs their (or their friends) kits. Granted this buggun' is not as accurate as some of the others but its close enough, and DAMN BIG... for $250 an absolute steal... Makes me not so pissed about the missing electronics... But if he's still makin' good on the cockpits there's hope :D

Its huge light (fiberglass) hollow, and basically 2 halves split down the middle... the reason why I was thinking of cleaning up the edges and making it a cutaway.

I disaree a bit about it will never be an intricate beuty like the QMx... with a lot of effort in super detailing and paint it will give them a run for the money no doubt in my mind... it sjust not as "finished" a kit when it get to you... makes for a challenge :D

Well, Rshanko, appeared here several times claiming his stuff was better than everyone else's because it was cheaper.

Well, like you said you get what you pay for.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with different levels of quality as long as you don't stomp around claiming to be the best, when you simply are not.

Considering the level of quality on this board, you better be sure you are as hot as you think you are when you show up, or you're gonna get slapped down.

For the money, and if you actually get your parts (which it seems you didin't), that's not a bad kit at all. Just a little rough.

But as you say a challenge.

:)WOW:)
My wife just went adn brought in the mail... in there were 2 Afterburner Kits from rshanko I was/am shocked. I mean he seemed like a good guy and all, made a really nice kit and came through with delivery but the afterburners were never delivered... then BAM I don't know how long later they just showed up... Just when I had given up on them :D

Sorry for doubting! We are officially square on all deals.

and...I have a really Big Cool Serenity :thumbsup

I felt compelled to come back to this thread and officially state that he came through - since not all that long ago I expressed my doubts... Apologies.

Sorry I read this post after I made my other one about getting my afterburners...

and for the most part I absolutely agree with your post... with a couple of clarifications... I was around when the mud throwing started over this kit. and there was mud from all sides which ius a darn shame becasue all of the people and kits invovled were quality - from where I am viewing. All good people - all good kits. I think that what happened (hindsight being 20/20 and all) is EVERYONE got caught up on the term "best" which is not well defined, since what is "best" is based upon everyones perspective. If RShanko said his was best because its was the least expensive - I can buy that I certainly do think that its a GREAT value. But I can also say with a good deal of certanty that the other kits invovled were more accurate, but were also more expensive - and/or a TON smaller. It all depended on what you wanted from the kit. Myself I like kits that I can tinkier with to make better as well as awesome out of th ebox builds. It depends on the mood I'm in which I prefer. But I think we can all agree that poor kit is just a disgrace... none of the kits we are talking about fall into that category... they are all good.

And I don't think its a level of quality... all of these kits are quality kits in different mediums etc... like I said its all about the perspective of those doing the argueing... and its easy (for anyone) to get thier nose out of joint when its preceived that you were slammed after busting your butt to make an awesome kit. and I trhink that's what happened. Several people made great kits, and were rightfully very very proud of them, and in the course ot tooting their own horns a bit inadvertently offended each other... and badness followed. Not the RPF's best moment in my opinion... with all due respect to all invovled because like I said before I think all of them are quality people :D
