Re: Officially Licensed: Captain America: TFA - Movie Replica. Full Reveal 11/16
That's what I was thinking, it's beautiful work, but the suit needs some weathering, it's just too clean. The weathering might help some of the details show up better. I wonder if there's enough market to offer a limited series of weathered ones.
Thanks guys!
OK...weathering.
:darnkids:lol
I agree...once weathered, it does take on a whole new appearance, funny to use the word 'new' with regards to something being 'weathered'. :lol
My concern is this....not only will take more time to finish the goods IF we're weathering them, but how far would we take this aged or used look?
First, it'll raise the cost of the final garment/s...secondly, not everyone will want the same weathered look, this I'm pretty certain about. :unsure
Fortunately, weathering is pretty easy.
That image above, I just used pencil lead on my finger and rubbed it onto the raised brick shapes of the white leather abdomen...and a bit all over in general.
I rubbed a low density lead pencil on some paper, made a big pencil ball scribble...then rubbed my finger into it. The pencil lead stuck to my finger...and so I rubbed the pencil stain over the white leather. That's it.
The beauty here is that it's not a permanent technique.
There are at least a dozen other ways...including shoe polish.
I do agree that my weathered pic above is cooler than the clean version...but we only produce new goods and I really try to stay away from weathering anything ourselves. Besides, you guys are far more talented then I am at this sort of thing...any one of you here will do a far better job at making this look weathered than I ever will. :thumbsup
Or...just use Larry's technique.:angel
