OdiWan72´s prop family

Some random shots of last nights work...
Somewhat finished the LG shoulder stock, including repairing the wrongly placed hole for the oiler.

Finally finished my 3D Props NL R1 rebel blaster rifle.

Also received another Sterling and a new Enfied forearm for my Jawa V.2

Thx for looking.

Thought I found a real world used part today while doing my rounds in junk and antique shops, but coming to your thread and used it for research I was able to find out it wasn’t to be and didn’t waste my money
Thanks for your thread and all the valuable information you share

As I see it the mortar fin for the DL-21 blaster should have 3 holes down in between the fins, the one I found had 4 holes

You're a flippin' wood working master it would seem!

By far not Marcus, but it was an interesting learning experience for sure to make that stock.
It hurt me to realize, that I misplaced the lower hole for the oiler and had to redo it. Making a plug and redrilling a new hole was quite a task.

I also had to make some compromises between the shape/ dimensions of the real stock (as seen on my hf LG) and the 3D printed parts I work with...came out decent IMHO.

Trying to stain the wood to the proper colour now.

BTW:
A neighbour gave me some tropical wood for that purpose, which is much easier to shape than beech or walnut (didn´t want to use pine).
Have to remind him to tell me the name again...might be a good option for future projects

Nice work marcus! I remember I offered you to make wood stuff for you if you needed but it seems you don't need help for that! (y)
the wood looks like some african mahogany probably.

I might need your help, when I start Luke´s hunting rifle in the distant future ;)

Not sure about the wood...might be. It had a very distinct scent, just like fresh pepper, when worked with...not bad at all :)

I'll be there for you, just ask :)
Considering the smell, then maybe it was Spanish cedar. I'm curious now  but yeah, those woods are quite nice and easy to work with and they take the varnish very nicely :)

Just had a look at this thread after years being on rpf.
Wow- absolutely brilliant. A master builder of original parts.
Mind blowing how you find the time to research, then part search, then build.
Not to mention to pay for it all.
Absolutely marvellous !! Your an inspiration that has us all lift our vision of what’s possible.
I saw you had a Vader reveal casting. Can you give some info on the cast source & where your up to. Do you have all of the original parts?
Legend!

Spanish cedar...that could be it. The pics I found online match with regards to woodgrain and colour. :)

I appreciate your kind words, but everything you see here is just the result of all the research and hard work of this community, which I am a proud member of for two decades now.

Finding the parts is a major part of this hobby, but even this would not be possible (or at least MUCH harder!) without all the connections and networking between us prop-builders and collectors. But let´s face it...the hobby has changed. This hobby was never "cheap", but it got ridiculously expensive :/ I would never ever have been able -or willing!- to build up such a collection, if I started just a few years ago.

With regards to your question about the VR...the mask in my cabinet came from a run by natty15d many many years ago. It is based on a 20th century fox ESB helmet IIRC, but I am no DV expert. I plan to replace it with a sskunky CfO ROTJ helmet in the future.

Have collected a lot of parts for this -distant- future VR build, not all real vintage parts (but quite a few ;)).

Some pics of recent „activities“ in my man cave...

The beginnings of my future V2 Jawa blaster with a real 19th century powder flask (a real shame to cut the Enfield apart! It is in soooo lovely condition)

And another MGC C96 for my parts boxes.

Bespin blaster also made tiny progress, but the paint is currently drying

Thx for looking!

That Enfield seems to have new furniture, or else it was kept in mint shape.

If it's new wood on an old gun don't worry about cutting it up.
However, if it's been kept in great shape all these years, yeah, it would be a shame to cut it up.
