ObiWan's brown cloak on auction, ended at $100,000+

Wasn't it decided that this wasn't even his screen used cloak? That seems a bit over the top.

Can't stop the rich and wanting. I just hope this doesn't show up in the scifi museum, there's enough fake SW stuff there :(

A sad state of affairs. So many things wrong with it and it cant be screen-matched.Someone just bought the world's most expensive dressing gown.Charlatans.

Agreed, it is beyond disgusting that auction houses sell things like this and rarely does anyone get nailed for it.

Not since Christies(?) tried to sell "Mark Hamill's stormtrooper helmet."

Just like the fake Creature from the Black Lagoon mask sold by Profiles not too long ago.

Whoo...that was disgusting, for sure.

At least in this case the auctioneers relied heavily on what they likely deemed an "authoritative" source. Shame on all involved for not taking the few hours to do some real homework on the items.

It'd be nice if you guys could actually back-up your negativity with some facts about this item and the ones in the Sci-Fi museum.

Show us your "proof".

According to some aquaintances that saw the Obi cloak up close and in-person, there were many things that were incorrect, right down to the stitching pattern.

The only close-up pics I have are not mine, thus I don't feel comfortable posting them. Suffice it to say that there's a fairly strongs consensus on the thing.

Well....I've also "heard" that the thing didn't sit in a closet for 30 year but was used many times. Possibly accounting for the differences that seem to exist. Sound plausible to me.

I've never understood why people think something 30 years old, that no one gave two shakes about for 25 of those years, should look exactly as it originally did.
