Checked out the play's website. Good stuff.

Bill Finger and Jerry Robinson are names that barely ring the vaguest of bells. I guess that's the point, right? I'm bummed not to live close enough to check out the production when it happens.

I'm curious to know where/how you researched the relationships between Kane, Finger and Robinson.

Wow! I can't believe I didn't see this thread earlier...What an awesome production and an awesome theatre group you have! I would looovvveee to do a costume design for a comic-book based play like this...Gotta love Shakespeare but a nerd has to get their geek on occasionally! Kudos to you and your students!

If you're like me, you're tired of our young people having THE ARTS being cut... more and more each year... from their school curriculum! Each year, Performing Arts students and their teachers have less and less resources to put on really good quality shows!

That bothered me SO MUCH that I decided to do something about it!! I've written my OWN stage play (entitled "Fathers Of The Dark Knight"), and it will feature a cast made up entirely of middle school, high school, and college-age students!!

I've giving these kids an ambitious, excellent show to call their OWN!! I want them to have the BEST sets, the BEST costumes, the BEST props!! I do this because they deserve the best. I do this because they deserve to have a top quality way to showcase their talent!

I do this because I love them.

But I really need help.

Brilliant costumes and I love the idea for the play, really cool, would say more, but most of my thoughts have already been expressed quite nicely by everyone else .

One suggestion though, on indiegogo, maybe consider offering a DVD copy of the play on a cheaper perk option for those that may wish to contribute, but in fact cannot make it to the play based on location and the like *cough* RPF Brethren *cough* haha, just thinking that might get some more backers :thumbsup

I am floored. Like the return to the classic comic book Batman and Robin, as well as Batgirl and the villains. Your interpretation and costuming is a step above a copy. Reading your creativity, narrative and rational for how you put things together was refreshing. DC would be proud of your results. You should do your play at the next local Comic Con get a donation for the school drama department. Love all the character costumes, especially the Joker and Batgirl, don't see them enough.

Opening Night of FATHERS OF THE DARK KNIGHT proved to be a STUNNING performance from my entire cast and crew!

What a journey this has been! The final product was more exciting than I could ever have dreamed!! Seeing my vision finally come to life on stage was a feeling I don't have the words to adequately describe!!


I still get goosebumps when I recall the opening overture of Act II (after intermission is over)...

The audience re-enters the auditorium to a GRAND orchestral score blaring from the sound system. At just the right cymbal crash, the BAT-SYMBOL projection appears on the closed stage curtain and majestically begins to sweep the side walls and ceiling of the space. Moments later, the curtain parts to reveal Police Commissioner James Gordon standing on the rooftop of Police Headquarters, signalling for the Dynamic Duo with his enormous Bat-Signal searchlight!! Whew!!!

You can actually hear the audience gasp with excitement each time that sequence plays out.

Naturally, The Commissioner's summons leads to a somewhat... shocking death trap... set for the Caped Crusaders by Edward THE RIDDLER Nygma!

But just when things look worst for The Dynamic Duo, The Riddler is attacked and defeated by a mysterious red-haired girl in a Bat-suit...

... leaving the police and our heroes baffled!

From months of rehearsals in my cramped living room...

... to weeks of set construction in my back courtyard...

... to the endless hair and makeup tests

... to tests of the BAT rod-puppet for the fateful scene in Bruce Wayne's study...

... to the tedium of load-in...

...to fight rehearsals, selfies, and shenannegans in the dressing room...

... to rehearsals on stage...

... to the final bows at the end of our show...

... this has been THE experience of my life!
