Used an old frame I had at home to see how it turns out.
Will print the 3 images on a larger scale and try to get some closer frames to this one

I swear, if a bunch of us got together, bought some place, and set it up as an AirBnB, it would be a gold mine. Make it a murder mystery weekend kind of thing, and franchise it.

On a side note, I was watching an old Bob Hope film last night, "The Ghost Breakers". The hotel - 1407, 1409, 1410, were the only ones visible. Made me think.... why no 1408?

I still can't believe this was found/discovered. After so long, it still feels - unreal.

Regarding the paintings in the hotel room, I did a bit of search for better versions/variants and I found that the middle painting (from my image) is actually a different one, but very close to the one found by bmcdowell (look at the pedestrians at the bottom of the paintings to see the difference):


The painting is called Paris Rue Saint Antoine and was painted by Carlo Bossoli.

And here are all 3 paintings in color at higher resolution:




This should print as A3, or 420 x 297 mm.

The 1st painting on the left looks to be colorized, as I found another one that has different colors, but with a big difference: 2 of the horsemen are missing here.

Here's an upscale of the Chateau Puivert print in Balkan's penthouse library. Should look nice printed on canvas or on some backlight-able material.

Ah okay, my question was actually about the Alamy one, if we think that was the one used in the movie and so if it's maybe worth buying it.

That’s not the one that was used in the movie. The original was made by Gerard Sioen and is sold via Getty for about 480,- Euros in full resolution. I own an original official printed postcard (no replica) from the end of the 90s, which is long out of print, but the Getty file has a better resolution and quality than the printed one.

Kind of interested now in what a program called TOPAZ AI could do with a screen cap of the castle. Seen some of the results and quite impressive. I used to have it installed, but uninstalled it a while ago. They do a free demo if anyone is interested in trying it.

I've tried it, but unless you have a decent resolution source image the results aren't that great

As I wrote before, they indeed used a real postcard that exists. I own one of the originals. But unfortunately it’s out of print since the end of the 90s. Been searching the market for another one for years, without any luck. I have high res scans of the front and the back, but the front is not as sharp and detailed as the original file they used for the print, which is the photo on Getty, that’s sold by the photographer.

Great find. These look nice too. Great alternative. I like the colors.
