Nintendo 3DS

Anybody got one of these? They've been out for a couple weeks now.

I picked one up last night, it's pretty neat. The glasses-free thing is definitely a plus, and you can adjust the depth or turn off the 3D entirely if you want.

I picked up Pilotwings for it.. that was the demo they had in the store when I first saw it and realized how well the 3D effect works. It's set up like most movies these days.. instead of the gimmick of things flying "out" of the screen, they set the focal point at the screen itself, meaning everything is "inside".. it's like looking through a window into a box.

And yes, it has a 3D camera built into it. Not the best camera (my iPhone takes better photos), but it's passable. And 3D. Haven't tested it that much yet. Naturally, it can view 3D photos, and I happen to dabble a bit in CGI, which means I can create my own 3D images (there are roundabout ways of loading them to the system to view).

I haven't figured out how the online works yet.. it says it's found six "StreetPass" contacts. Which I think means that there's six people around me here in the apartment complex that have one of these, but I can't figure out how to bring up a list of who they are. I think there's also some kind of online store thing, but I don't know if it's active yet.

All in all, not bad. Needs more titles.. the launch lineup is kind of thin, but I'm sure the developers will be all over it as it matures. Since I never had a DS, I can also pick up some other games that I never got around to playing.

So it actually works huh? Supposedly the iphone5 is going to have the same kind of screen.

I have been wanting to try one. But I remember the lure of the virtual boy... DEAR GOD my head STILL hurts from that thing! :lol

Mostly debunked rumor, that one. The trick is that the 3D effect only works from one angle.. you can't turn the phone vertical/horizontal and have it still work. We'll see once they finally announce it (toward the end of the year, I think), but I'm not going to hold my breath.

The 3DS certainly is lacking in the field of titles, but what we have still impresses me. I hope they kick their inner hardware designers into high gear, because I got some games on my old DSi that I need transferred over to my 3DS.

I heard the ones over here don't play the previous games. It's the playstation 3 all over again.

I have yet to see one in person...although I really haven't tried finding one that hard to see what it looks like. If I were younger, I'd love to have one, I'm sure....but at 28 years old, I dunno how much I'd use it personally...still a cool concept though!

The 3DS definitely plays the normal DS games, but I don't believe it plays older gameboy advance games. One reason to keep the old DS/DS lite if you still pick up the older GBA games.

I am Gamefreak, this 3DS could be only short hours of game the batterty low...maybe in 4-5 hours during after game.
Display screen in 3D is good and I wondering that I like it, I didn't buy because I waiting for the game Splinter Cell 3DS ;)

OT:
and I have my PS3, this sudden down the disc unreadable after 5 minutes cames the game in freeze any more times and different disc from games didn't worked... my PS3 is now 4 years old. phew!

I actually really don't like it.

I tried it at Target for about 1 minute and was done. You have to look at the screen almost like you would those crazy magic eye 3D images. It doesn't feel good on the eyes when you readjust to look at the lower screen and then back up at the 3D monitor. It just doesn't feel right. Turning that convergence level down to 2D feels better on my eyes.

I can see why some have complained and said it could do eyesight damage, though I doubt it's been proven for sure.

Meh. Like movies in 3D, I think the 3Ds is garbage. I spent a significant amount of time playing with one (about four hours) TRYING to like it (big fan of Nintendo), but in the end the 3D was horrid and the color scheme/design of the device itself seemed to scream "We locked the designers in the closet! Now us color-blind engineers who THINK we know how to do industrial design can make the product we want!"

Ugh. There's nothing about the 3Ds that isn't a pile of steaming... well, you know.

I REALLY wanted the 3Ds to be the first thing that I liked about 3D, but it just re-inforced the concept of 3D being a poorly-implemented gimmick.

well they are right about eyes and don't play longer to 5 hours and only half hours almost 30 minutes in break and train ours eyes move into free.
And don't kids play this 3DS, better normaly the DS Lite...

some I scared about 3DS with my eyes and look who crazy of my eyesight... lol but I like it.
