Nikki Sixx?

Dude, Nikki hosts evening radio in these parts. I always liked Nikki, the guy's gone through hell and back and is around to talk of it. Hope you have some good luck with finding your materials!

Thanks, Jaedena, I appreciate that.

Speaking of materials, my fabric showed up today! :thumbsup

I found some regular white Velour, but it was more of a plain white and it didn't have that drape, stretch, color and nap like Nikki's robe, I almost got it, but decided against it, got home, did some Googling and found the "perfect" fabric (well as far as I can tell from magazine pictures and videos), on sale, for $ 2.99 a yd.

I'm glad I didn't go all impulse at Hancocks.

Yea he had the shoulder piece custom made based on Mad Max and Escape from New york.

I was able to find the guy who tailored all of his outfits.

I wrote a couple e-mails and he eventually called me (from England) and we spoke for about an hour.

The funny part was he didn't remember making the damn thing, I had to remind him and send him some pictures from my collection. :lol

Although he did mention that the suits were made from cotton ("just plain 'ol t-shirt material"), not the lyrca/spandex I thought.

He mentioned that there was interfacing down the front to smooth it out and stabilize it.

There were different striped suits that had different stripe widths.

He also told me what stores he got the material and the beads and rhinestone doo-hickeys from.

He's a really cool, down to earth guy!

I don't really think it has anything to do with the lack of research, because I'm basically asking generalized questions regarding fabrics and patterns and if that's something that people don't know a huge amount about on this forum....well....:unsure

I know a hell of a lot about fabrics but there just is not enough info in the images you are sharing to actually identify anything with any kind of accuracy.

You asked about the bodysuit: It's a bodysuit. Unitard maybe another term but there is no special term you are going to use to find it- it's a bodysuit that has been slashed and adapted. Can't even tell if the sleeves are regular or raglan or what..

You asked about the material of the bodysuit: lycra is spandex, it's a trademarked term by Dupont for their fibre. Spandex is simply the stretchy fibre in stretch fabrics so it's not much use saying it's a spandex- it makes no more than about 5% of the fibre content. The photo gives very little help as to what the main fibre is likely to be as there are no clues as to sheen or texture. So aside from a stretch fabric with some body to it there is not much more to say. Could be nylon could be polyester I don't think it is cotton but again not enough info in the image.

If there were better reference images to go from you would have had more answers and people are not going to go and do the image hunting for you when they have their own projects to work on. And honestly, whining about a lack of responses is also going to turn people away ;) Trust me.

Well after I bought 6 yrds of it, he confirmed that the material I purchased was the exact material he used...so, I guess there was enough info to accurately identify it.

No, it's a regular, long-sleeved shirt and trousers made from scratch.

He told me it was cotton/ t-shirt material.

Just a couple more questions....

I'm trying to find a pattern(s) that I can modify to make these....

Is there a name for the style of shoes he's wearing?

....is there a name for the "body-suit" he's wearing?

what kind of shades are those they look awesome

I thought it was a body suit as well, but he corrected me...

"It's not a body suit, it's just a shirt and a pair of trousers held up with suspenders."

If I remember correctly the sunglasses are...Porsche Design by Carrera 5620, or a variation of those.

I don't know if he would make another one, I didn't ask, more than likely I couldn't afford it anyways. :unsure

But ask him, I would be interested to know if he actually would.

Those look like a basic man's ballet shoe, obviously not toe shoes, with really tall spats going up his leg. That's my take on it. Good luck!

What about the robe, is there a similar style pattern that I could get and modify?

What type of material does his body suit look like?

A heavy spandex?
Lycra, or something else?
