absolutly awsome. damn you are way to fast for me. I am still waiting on my fabric. Are the laces just one layer ore did you double them? is the effect from just one layer as perfect as in your pics?

Thanks Chris. Because I get to spend all the time thinking about this project, the moments that I have to work on it (in between my job, wife, 2 kids and other things), I get a lot done.

The "laces" are only 1 layer of 3/4" elastic straps. I am not entirely happy with how they look. I need to find better elastic.

So since I started prefecting the shoe form, I thought I would try it out tonight. It defintely is getting better. I still have to make the top part of the laces area "swoop-up" more, but I think I just need to alter the shoe form to do that.

I also tried dying a large amount of the fabric today. After I dyed it I threw it in the washing machine. I shouldn't have done that because it lightened the grey up too much.

Here is my new shoe form and grey fabric. Remember, I am going to fix the laces area and darken the grey. I also still need to have someone sew a tongue and the top "white leather" part. Also the NIKE swoosh in these pics is just a quick foam cutout. I plan on making it just like the real versions.

This took me about an hour from nothing to done...

Thanks Alan! I can't wait to get the form perfect and start installing the lights. I think I might try to incorporate the same type of button switch that the real ones have. I am also going to try to put EL sheet in the soles but I have a feeling that the yellow rubber won't let enough EL light through.

Perhaps I can help you out on that sewing part. I am going to visit ma parents in two weeks and my mom is having some seroius sewing skills. I think i do have enough leather for 4 thoungs. All I need to find is the upper material which surrounds the thung. just let me know if you need help on that an if yes, how strong you want the thoung foam material. and if ou at list can wait that long because getting it done and shipped to you could take a while.

I figured as much. I am talking with Gary about maybe having him cast the rubber part in clear but that is a long shot.

I more than likely will install 2 LED's in each sole area along with a diffuser (piece of frosted glass film).

that would be great some clear soles. I been trying to figure out a way to get that official el look for the soles using leds.I tried getting some thin black foam sheets you would find at ac moore like mark uses for teil mag logos on the back of the shoe.I tried cutting the thin foam sheets to shape the soles and then cut out all the access rubber on the actual sole.Then glue the foam piece to the sole so no light can seep in only glow through the cutout of the foam so it would block the light from showing throughout the whole edge of the sole.Like how you have photoshopped in your pics.Like I said just messing with ideas but I really want the real EL look in my own markpoon replicas.

I was afraid of posting any criticism, though intended to be constructive and helpful, but you seem to want any and all feedback. So here's my one thing...... since you posted pics of your latest shoe (with the new, smaller upper) it always strikes me now as looking not high enough relative to the rest of the shoe. This was apparent in a previous picture you posted with your shoe sitting in front of your monitor showing a pic of the official MAG. I can't shake this thought with each new picture you post, but now I'm beginning to wonder if it's because yours doesn't have the white part sewn around the upper "loops" yet. Maybe that will add the extra height my brain says is missing at the moment. Does that make sense?

Overall though, bravo on this project. It looks amazing, and in the short amount of time you're doing it just makes it even more mind blowing.

So here's my one thing...... it always strikes me now as looking not high enough relative to the rest of the shoe.

I know what you mean. It plays tricks on your mind. My first couple tests were too big and too short but with my last test it seems to be perfect.The pic of my shoe in front of the monitor is different from the grey version I did last night. I made the top area higher and a tad bigger. I do think that not having the white portion attched makes it look shorter.

Look at the heght of just the GREY area sompared to Mark's shoes. Mine is actually about 1/4" taller:

yes please. I am not having problems with critics that's why i am here. The whole fabric is back off again. in the nest step i have to sew the diferent parts together especially on the lace part.
