NIKE, you can go to hell. I'm making my own NIKE MAG's *NEW LED's* 12-21 pg.21

Re: NIKE, you can go to hell. I'm making my own NIKE MAG's *ANKLE BUBBLE* 11-6 Pg.

Yeah, I have been looking at them but in all hoensty they show up more pronounced in photos than they are in real life. The thickness of the laces are not too much thicker than the thinnest elastic laces I could find. Plus the release NIKE's have a double layer of fabric that lend to the laces appearing "thinner".

As for people wanting info on what materials I used to sculpt the form and such, I have NO problem sharing info. I encourage everyone to make their own.

Ok, here's the first of many questions :angel

How did you do the casts?

What material did you use for the main part of the upper shoe? (The spongy, but rigid bits)

Do you have any links to the websites that you got these materials from?

Would you be so kind as to sell me some of your reels of material if it's not easily available?

etc..? :lol

As for the light bubble diffusion, I plan on either to matte clear coat spray painting it or trying a frosted plastic.

As for the ankle strap, the reason it is strapped on the outside was because I messed up making the EL sheet on the wrong side. Although, some of the screen used shoes had the strap closure on the outside:

oh those shoe are the last few shoes left in existence after the movie.. os it has been used, handled and temper with.. so some would have taken the strap out and wrongly put it back in its proper place..

But i do know what you mean.. the connectors are suppose to face on the inner sides..

But kudos bro... keep it coming.. like i said.. don't fall half way... gotta find something about the clear soles...

What I wanna know is, how come all the real shoes were yellow, but they appear to be clear on those above shots from the film? Was it video editing or something?! :wacko

For me the real color is clear, but in 20 years the plastic turned yellow..

In this old picture it's clear :

Hey Brad,

I noticed your post over on Garys site, and to me, it looks like this photo of the shoe from earlier on (Oct 20th) is actually a lot sleeker and absolutely perfect to the Nike one, where as here, the latest model seems to be a bit bulkier on the top of the foot section down to the sole. Hmm. :wacko

Here the shoe looks amazing and the Nike logo is perfect. White leather at the top and that would be a almost a done deal right there!! (y)thumbsup

I think I know why. I started pushing the foam further up on the shoe when forming it. I believe these two are more sleeker in design, but i will do some test...

Hello brad!

I have been following your process for awhile now. As an artist
And a sneaker expert I'd like to shed some information about
The sole yellowing problem. All clear soles yellow over time,
The chemical process used to make the clear outsoles will
Always eventually turn yellow due to oxidation. There is a
Chemical available that will reverse the process, turning yellowed
Soles clear again, it's called "sea glow". Google it for information
As well as application procedures, but be warned it needs to
Be handled properly.

Thanks,
Alex

Oxidization occurs over time... sneakerheads who collects Nike Jordans would know this... or even G-Shock watch collectors... clear rubber turns yellow over time.. its a reaction to every rubber material... only that clear rubber is easier to be seen than colored ones... :)

Thank you Alex!! I'll look into the Sea Glow

Re: NIKE, you can go to hell. I'm making my own NIKE MAG's *ANKLE BUBBLE* 11-6 Pg.

But as far as I can see here, it's not oxidation as the rubber looks to be yellow all the way through as it was designed to BE this colour for Marks shoe..? :confused

Surely this process is only to clear away an outside oxidation coat and cannot pentrate the whole thickness of the rubber to make it clear when it wasn't to begin with? Perhaps that's why Gary had no luck with it.

I'm wondering if Nike will use something like muscle wire for the power laces if and when they make them, i don't think it's there yet though,
i've had a few thoughts as to how it could work, mostly based around winding up a coil as you step into the shoe, maybe a lifted inner sole?? and releasing when the inner hits the bottom of the shoe, i know it's out of the scope of your build but it would be amazing!

Re: NIKE, you can go to hell. I'm making my own NIKE MAG's *ANKLE BUBBLE* 11-6 Pg.

I think you should use semi-circle El strips in the soles like Nike did. It will make a huuuuge difference in comparrison to the other great attempts from other members. Don't get me wrong, what MTB and Pitbull did were amazing with Marks shoes, but the El soles would seal the deal.

I might play around with that idead, but I am not sure since wouldn't each EL sheet need a converter or could I run all 3 EL sheets off of one single converter?

I have been testing the white leather part and I am fairly certian I know how to make it. Though, I still may need to enlist the help of Gary's wife to make them. Just not sure.

You can power those el pieces off one inverter.Remember if you can't the el sheet just won't light up ya know.

all brad would have to do is make a template and cut the cuttable el sheet to match the circle lights in the sole and just wire it only once.
