NIKE, you can go to hell. I'm making my own NIKE MAG's *NEW LED's* 12-21 pg.21

Re: NIKE, you can go to hell. I'm making my own NIKE MAG's *SEWING TEST* 11-1 Pg.1

I did a test today with the sewn back. I need to figure out how to glue the fabric to the shoe with the sewn back better. I will post pics later. The seam is ok, but not accurate.

ALSO, bad news...it doesn't look like Gary will be able to make the soles clear. It is WAY too time consuming and dangerous (with the chemicals involved) to make these clear. HOWEVER, we may try to completely make the sole from scratch later. So for now I will just be going forward with the "yellowish" soles.

Gutted! It was a great idea to try, and thanks to Gary (or was it his Mrs?) for trying. It would have been neat to have the clear, but I guess the yellow does stay true to the film and Mark has, I think you will agree, done an excellent job on replicating the sole section. It's the most accurate part of his shoe for sure and will compliment your work well.

How are you getting on with the rear bubble section widening for more LEDs? Also, I sent you a pm Brad, did you get it ok?

Just spitballing, but if these are display only shoes, why not cast the centre sole in clear resin?

Luke, yeah it sucks about the soles. Yes I got your PM, I'll resins later as I am on my iPhone right now.

Rallied, clear resin is not a bad idea but I think I would rather have the yellow rubber instead.

As for the ankle lights, that is what I have been playing with. I think I have an idea of how to do the bubble but I might have to enlist the help of someone who can vacform the bubbles.

The problem is, we all say we will just display them.... But we know the temptation will become too much when the weather's good and you're off on a night out ;-)

My angle of doing the MAG is working on Mark's shoes itself and try to transform it to the latest Nike MAG.. :)

Re: NIKE, you can go to hell. I'm making my own NIKE MAG's *SEWING TEST* 11-1 Pg.1

So are you going to redo the fabric or the form?

Re: NIKE, you can go to hell. I'm making my own NIKE MAG's *SEWING TEST* 11-1 Pg.1

let me rearrange the sentence.. forming the fabric into the latest MAG.. :)

Re: NIKE, you can go to hell. I'm making my own NIKE MAG's *SEWING TEST* 11-1 Pg.1

If I had a small 12v battery and wanted to run (4) 5mm BLUE LED's and (12) 3mm RED, YELLOW, GREEN LED's plus a small EL sheet, what would the circuit need to look like? I need this in laymen's terms please...maybe even a picture. Thanks!

Re: NIKE, you can go to hell. I'm making my own NIKE MAG's *LED Question* 11-6 Pg.

I did a test with the ankle bubble. I had to cut into one of the heel cups. Man was this nerve racking. If I screwed up, there was no going back.

I think it turned out pretty decent for the first try. I will eventually make the bubble about twice the height/depth. Also the LED's are just temporary. I will make them very uniform in layout and straighten them up.

Re: NIKE, you can go to hell. I'm making my own NIKE MAG's *ANKLE BUBBLE* 11-6 Pg.

Hi Jedifyfe,
Excellent work, just discovered the site yesterday and read your entire mag journey! I made a pair at the weekend for a back to the future movie marathon held nr melbourne, I might post a picture but they're pretty shameful compared to yours! Just for laughs but one guy actually wore a legit pair so we got some pics, I want to make another pair, probably not as accurate as yours, maybe based on a pair of fin socks or dive boots, if I find a good pair of ski boot liners they may work too,
i'm well impressed by your effort, how are you planning on dealing with the sole? I don't know the difficulties in casting a clear sole but it sounds pretty tricky, good luck!

Brad.....you are THE man, top job.

Re: NIKE, you can go to hell. I'm making my own NIKE MAG's *ANKLE BUBBLE* 11-6 Pg.

The only thing I would say is that they look to be angled a bit on there, where as the Nikes are pretty much straight in line with the sole. It may be just the angle you have the photo.

You know what Brad, I think you should keep the bubble height as it is there. In my opinion it looks very neat, where as the Nikes bubble looks a bit too bulky and sticks out too much making it look a bit funny from the back. I think it would be a good improvement over the originals myself. Not sure what you think on that one?

Also, just out of interest how did you do the bubble? What material was used?

Here ya go Brad. Hope this helps:

R = Resistor :rolleyes. These will depend on the ratings of the LEDs used. There are plenty of sites that can calculate which resistors you will need depending on the miliamps of the LEDs being used. If you need any further detail or help with this just drop me a line and I'll help best I can. :thumbsup

Hey Luke. I am still going to probably make the bubble higher because the LED's need to fit in there better.

As for how I did it, I used a sheet of thin plastic (kind of like packaging plastic) laid it ontop of a form I pre-cut and heated it up, then pushed it through the cutout. It's like a reverse vacform.

Each update you make simply amazes me Brad.

Well done on the continued progress and making me pleasantly surprised each time :) :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

Re: NIKE, you can go to hell. I'm making my own NIKE MAG's *ANKLE BUBBLE* 11-6 Pg.

Thanks Alan. This Thursday I am having a family friend come over and we are going to try to make the white top part. This shouldn't be too hard.

More pics of it on the shoe. Nothing is permanent:
