How do you make the led bubble like this ? I mean how to ungloss it ? (I don't find the word in english, as it is not my language so I say "un - gloss" ^_^)

Those bubbles are a prototype. They were glassy like the clear soles (because they are made from the same stuff) and I trimmed their shape a bit using a dremil.

If you want to take the shine off your set, just use 600 or 800 grit wet and dry sand paper.

Thanks, I'll try to sand it if the matte varnish doesn't work. I'm running some test of the varnish right now.

while waiting between each coat, I've made a new upper. It is closer to the RDs but I made it to long so the joint is visible under the strap...
What do you (all) think ?

Another broken wire.

Took these for another spin today.

All was good until some noticed that one side of the left EL was not on and flickered if I twisted my foot.

When I got home, I pulled up the sock liner and found this.

Lucky, easy to repair this time.

This is the 2nd time solder joints have broke on my shoes and why I went to GIDT last year. What has happened here is that the flex in the sole has just strained the solder joint until it broke. I honestly think the only solution here is eliminate the joins in the sole.

If you look at images of the screen used shoe, you sometimes see what looks like a phone or data line cable attached. And I think that might be the answer here. Phone or data line is flat with up to 4 pair of wires. So this means that a single cable can be run up the back of the shoe that allows eight connections at each end. I will need to play with some, but I do think it is possible to carefully divide these wires into pairs to be run off to the different points so that all joins are only at the very ends - ie the EL panel or the connector at the top of the collar.

This data cable would work for both all EL systems as well as EL/LED systems and even when the battery is stored in the heel.

EDIT: Looking back, I did walk these stairs about 30 times today, so maybe this didn't help.

And thats why i'm making my el panel soles 1 panel.

@cavx sewing didn't work so I straight up glued it in the shoe on the left is the modded tongue using the strap from my first pair as a test.

I see you got one of the weird HC pairs

Great job! How did you do it? What materials did you use?

Wow that is cool I want to do that to my display mags bc the pull hole on the HC mags aren't accurate and making new uppers can help to make it more accurate. how are new uppers done and what material do I need and is it easy to do ??

KGC - Prime : here is what you need :
• some white tape (the kind that is not too sticky)
• a cardboard
• a pencil

• cisors
• x acto
• spray glue
• some fabric (same colour than your mags : for the gey ones it is harder to find the same shade of Grey as there is more than 50 :facepalm sorry for this one)
• shooe goo or gel glue
• foam sheet x 1

1 - Put the tape on the shoe following the collar of the top and trace the edges with the pencil - then arrange the shape of the holes to match the RD (don't make them the same size than the RDs, just follow the general form)
2 - get the tape on the cardboard and follow the pattern you've just traced with the xacto
3 - put this pattern on the foam sheet and cutout the piece of foam
4 - spray glue the foam on the side that won't be in contact with the shoe
5 - place the sprayed foam on the fabric and cut excess fabric (but keep about 1cm around it)
6 - put some shoegoo on the edges of the foam and fold in the excess fabric
7 - you can add a layer of fabric on this side to cover everything better
8 - place the upper on the shoe and close the strap of your mags ;)

I think I'm gonna add some velcro so it will always stick on the shoe without having to glue or sew something... Or just sew some little points...
I'll post some pictures tomorrow or when I'll do the other shoe ;)

yes please with the how-to pics! well done with the upper addition. I imagine black would be the easiest one to match. Might have to try that when I eventually get a pair of black ones.

And thats why i'm making my el panel soles 1 panel.

And if I had made it from a single panel, both front and back would have gone out - ie the entire sole.

Yeah, this mod is Way much easyer on the Black Mags. But the strap helps to hide the joint and blends the different shades to the eye.

That looks great.
Thanks Cavx you're my inspiration too :)

Yes, same technic but he's making the entire Mag here :) - And I've been looking from him to put the second part of the tutorial but nothing since a long time :(
Even here (he is Caloss on this forum) there are no news from him.

Yes, finding a fabric that matches the grey color is the main problem

What at I may do is unstitching the white upper and insert the foam could you make a template and pm or email it to me ? If u can my email is prime3446@gmail.com

BRAINWAVE: after not thinking about Nike MAG fabric for 5 minutes... An idea hit me and the obvious answer was TheRPF.

Instead of aimlessly looking for something remotely close to the RD MAG fabric... Couldn't we just have someone design and dyesub the RD knit pattern onto some lycra in the correct RD shade? There are dozens and dozens of examples of how well those textures for superhoes show up on bodysuits. Is it too insane to have a texture such as a jumbo weave printed onto a dyesub lycra or semi-stretch fabric? And if it were done, couldn't we get it in any custom color we wanted?
