Here's a picture of one I'm working on now. The soles and upper have been completely removed for the repaint of the midsole. I used a can of rustoleum satin lagoon for the splatter. By very lightly pushing the nozzle you can get a splatter effect.

Yep! That's the crisp clean look I'm aiming for. Nice job man

II imagine Jedifyfe and Cavx both have lots of patience, for an example (I know there's more).

I'm learning patients. It was never one of my strong points :)
Catfish45 are you able to get the paint out of the recess? The paint job looks great and will look even more SA if you can clean out the recesses where the clears attach.

Someone did a small test by mixing paint into Shoe Goo and it set really well. If you were to mix white into the adhesive, you would achieve a true SA look for the soles.

I'm not sure how I'm going to do under the soles yet. I need to figure out how I'm going to get these clear soles to fit first lol

Start by lining up the inner wings and check the outer wing. You will have to trim some out of the hollow at the front. There will be a need to trim out the rear part and sole should fit in.

Finally made a start on the bubble filter for my all EL version.

I modified the version that is posted in this thread.

After punching out the holes, I worked out that the tool has a depth gauge adjustment.

Not that it matters that much given how it looks behind the lens.

I will have another go at these and see if I can also reduce the spacing a bit.

@cavx from Bruce Wayne: "Does it come in Black ?"

This is purely awesome @cavx and will help me MUCH because i want to do the EL panel side mod for my Black V2s :love

For those who painted the midsoles, my question of the day was to know if you removed the paint ?
If you did wich product you took (acetone looks good and cheap for this but very agressive, angelus preparer only usefull for leather) ?

For the toe box my decision is taken i'm going for emmett's method, seen how he got it and brad did, it's the safest and easyest way to get it done for me, due to the fact i'm still a noob at modding.
Vormz thank you so much dude for all your help, and the knowledge you gave me on mags, and modding ! :thumbsup

Sure and I do have 1.6mm black PP. I used some of the white 1.6mm PP I had on hand. I also had 1mm HIPs, 2mm ABS, 3mm ABS, 3mm Perspex and 5mm Perspex to choose from.

I used white because the 1989 and 2011 shoes both have white there, though I think black might look better when it is lit up.

I used acetone for my prep before painting. It strips away the paint and may be breaking down the rubber too, so use with caution.

The steam toe is easy. Be sure to use a wet (rung out) towel when you do this so you generate lots of steam.

I'd suggest doing this first so that you get the confidence to do other mods. The ultimate toe slim IMO is the sock toe, but requires you to open the shoe right up.

Anyone fancy doing a set of LEDs for me? I'm comfortable with EL but it's those pesky LEDs that have gotten the best of me, I know this should really be in the want to buy, but I've tried there and Oct 21st is approaching fast! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I would talk to Cavx about that. He may sell sets of plastic light boards but ai don't want to put words in his mouth.

Let me get my tester up and running and we will see what the forum thinks. I am confident that the idea is solid.

Too bad you had too much splatter at the end :(

This is the technique i'm going for my black mags (with less paint on the toothbrush to have a smooth result) it makes me able to have more control on the density of the splatter and look really close to SA shoes plus it's cheap and easy to remove !

For the paint i made researches ending with that the best technique to get a result that is not too matte, not too glossy is this one :

I'm not sure as a wearing pair it will last forever but at least it is easy to redo and more affordable than technique you use 100 products for just painting.

@cavx I want to repaint my midsoles exactly like @Catfish45 has

Bring tape and you can have the fun of masking up the uppers as they are now re-attached :)

What paint do you intend to use? I have a can of the light grey I originally use on my wear pair, but know that stuff cracked after a few wears.

I believe the paint cracks are caused by improper paint types, the tamiya primer isn't meant to go on rubber or leather shoes. Go with angelus black and white paint, mix the two until you get the correct shade of grey
