From what I understand you can't really dye rubber nor does paint work well since it usually cracks. The only good way to color rubber is to dye the rubber as its being molded. I haven't tried it but I have seen a few guys use rit dye on rubber by boiling water, adding dye to the water then submerging the part for 5 minutes or so. Supposedly this allows the dye to penetrate the rubber. Also it won't lighten colors, you can only go darker.

I'm just going to buy some clear soles from Cavx and repaint/splatter the midsoles

You are correct 100% and My mags are proof that dying doesn't work. It didn't for me anyways

I used Angelus Light Blue die mixed with Angelus Sole Brite. That didn't work after 3 applications. it just soaked right into the sole. then I used strait dye without sole brite but it didn't dye the soles equally. Oh and I made a big mess as you can see.
Sole Brite is made to deyellow used sole and give them back they're stock brightness, angelus brand did use it on their video but it is probably to make the red color stay longer.
it looks freakin terrible is what it looks! the yellow of the soles mixed with the blue and not in all areas. I even power scrubbed the soles and prepped them for dyeing but that had no affect on them. these soles are not normal.
I really hope you will manage to bring back the midsole to neutral with acetone hoping that the dye didn't go too deep in it. :(

It's the safest way to get it properly done without risk.

I honestly don't know that I'd wear a pair that had been painted since it will eventually crack and wear off. I do not plan to wear the shoes that I am working on, they will be for display only. I'm hoping maybe cavx or somebody will make a midsole that has the proper color mixed into the rubber so cracking won't be an issue.

Given the cost of materials, when I do this, the first pair will be my size. I am currently working on the master.

The problem won't be to get the color done but the splatter and make it be as strong as RDs, i am wrong @cavx ?

From a mold and cast perspective, there is are a few ways to do this -

1. cast a grey part and add splatter to that after (pretty much what all shoe guys do).
2. flick a layer splatter into the mold and let it cure, then fill the mold with the grey. This bonds everything together and the splatter will never peel.

Because I will be making new heel cups with the larger NIKE and MAG letters, I am going to mix a very large batch (whole bottles) of the correct grey pigment as well as the aqua for the splatters to have on hand.

I'll most probably just provide this part as a grey and let the end user paint this themselves. The question then is do I tint them the light grey or a colour match the darker V2 grey?

I'd definitely say cast in the light grey and let the end user do the splatter

LOL there was no response and then by the time I hit post there was two before me.

There is the Mark Poon kit which you should be able to find in the Junk Yard or you can make your own. If you can buy at A6 sheet of EL and two inverters, you will have enough for both shoes.
