for the strap could you layer the el? use the white as your lightsource and then put a clear of what ever color over/in front of it to filter through?

What you sill find with red, white and yellow EL is that it is NOT bright. The white is the brightest of the three and that's why I used it in my yellow and red soles. The strap will be slightly dimmer because you would have to use yellow on your shoes.

I tried that with the red and found that it's brighter to just go with the red EL. The yellow EL isn't too bad but if it's behind the yellow tinted soles, then it would be less bright.

You're totally right @Vormz i was looking for the name of this color.

Depending of the kind of vynil and how thick it is, it could be more than usefull.

I was refering to the nike footwear bag decals. But if you need some, we can talk about it, no problem.

I am not sure that vinyl would be good to use for anything to adhere to the shoes. My FOOTWEAR letters were custom made by a member here and he applied them to the shoes. He is a professional shoe customizer. I don't know what he uses but it's VERY durable and feels like it's part of the shoe now.

Your right, my vinyl is only made to stick on something like the footwear bag, not on fabric at all.
Maybe I wasn't clear about that.
I talked about the bag cause it was on pictures as a color reference, I didn't get that he was talking about the shoes.

Jedifyfe i was wondering what you did for the swoosh, did you replace it or you managed to remove the texture it has before to paint it ?

DragonGalvy what kind of paint did you use for the midsoles? currently I have angelus direct shoe paint, haven't painted them yet until I get some clear soles from CavX.
Sent from my iPhone us

I used jaquard textile paint (neutral gray colour) which unfortunately wore off very easily so i top coated it with a clear bonding agent which i think I finished as I don't have the packaging anymore. Haven't worked with Angelus paints before but I think you'd have to go with a water-clean-up type paint as the oil-based ones don't really flex and may crack with wear.

Awesome, i'm aiming for a certain color and i wanted to know if it's possible to get this particular yellow/green wich is : R 218 V 243 B 4

Wich appears to be the closest color of the Mag's bag logo i could get.

You won't get that kind of choice here. The yellow pigment is clear and when mixed in to be bright in colour will look like the colour of clear yellow plastic (Perspex).

It would be the same shade of yellow as the soles of Jedifyfe's "FOOTWEAR" shoes, just more clear because the base rubber is clear. The soles on his shoes are painted (dyed) translucent V2 rubber, so that already has a filtering effect and would reduce the light passing through it.

What about a colour filter + a white filter over white EL? Too much filtering? My local supplier has white EL sheets but they are pink when off. This might be OK in the soles and even the LED bubble (for an all EL set up), but not good for the strap unless you are doing a custom pair. I have found a white contact (for books) but have not found the clear colours yet, only solid colours so far. I am hoping that the white contact will turn these pink (when off) sheets white so they are white on and white off and hoping I don't kill the light output with the contact lamination.

I have white EL here now, so worth a test if I can find the suitable material for the colour filters it might be very good and lower the cost of modding as the white/pink sheets are much cheaper than white/white sheets.

How bright do we want this?

When I measure my LCD screen with a full white (R: 255 G:255 B:255) field, I get 53 FL. When I drop the red and change the colour to cyan (R:0 G:255 B:255) the light level drops to 42FL. I only get 5FL when measuring an A6 sheet of the blue/green EL powered by 9V. So it will be interesting to see what I get from a white sheet at 9V of the same size.

Well I went full sock toe (on the right shoe as I'm working on 1 at a time). Really happy with the result altho it's not completely finished. I ran out of glue.

Unfortunately either the forum or my phone will not allow me to upload photos.

I csn choose the pic I want but I'm unable to click the upload button for some reason.

Just wanted to thank you all for all the advice here. I've got the yellow sole in some silicone mold now just waiting to demold so I can pour some new clear soles.

I removed it and replaced it with yellow marine vinyl (same stuff as the V2 swoosh)

yep. that gold swoosh on the black ones looks very tacky. If I were to order a pair, I'd do the same and just change the colour scheme to white and black only (paint over all the gold). The shape of the swoosh could then be cut to the shape it is on the RDs.

I'd like to see black and grey where the tongue, laces, strap, buckle and cuff are grey and the rest is black, no spatter.

I got a bit done today.

1. I started to glue my uppers back on to my US8s.
2. I made up the sole master parts for the US9.5s, so they are all ready for molding now.

3. I also decided to have another go at the rear mid-sole mod where the V2s are too high.

Both are done BTW. This shot is just to show the difference before and after and I will clean up the old glue line with some acetone. There is a slight gap whilst it just sits, but once glued down, it looks pretty good.

So what I have done different here is not to pull the cup over the ridge at the top of the mid-sole like I did last time (because that deformed the shape and I then had to build it back up), rather work out the cut line and grind it off. I ground it down flush with the inside the mid-sole.

Not sure at this stage just how far I will go with rubber on these. I am going to attach at least a larger MAG and the larger bubbles I am still to finalize.

4. I also played around with getting a 9V battery into the buckle. It kind of works, but like my previous 3V set up (back when I ran LEDs), the battery wants to stick out a bit. Unlike the 3V system, a 9V is smooth, but heavier.

I couldn't ask for more @cavx jedifyfe's soles look perfect.

Does anyone know a good paint (neon yellow) i could use for the Mag logos on the heelcups ? I was thinking about the Angelus Tropic Sun Yellow Paint
Neon-Tropic-Sun-Yellow.jpg

that looks like to be a good color match but will certainly crack with time due do the fact it's leather paint, but for the small amount to paint ... Cracking or not it isn't a big deal to repaint.

Did you mod the soles or are you just molding and casting the original part? Do you have a vacuum chamber?

I am currently making US8 and US9.5 that will both feature the outrigger style with waffle on the sides and pyramid tread on the base. I have re-worked my design to give a much cleaner seam between the side and base. I am even going so far as to correct the leaning waffle on the front inner wing.

This is my first pair. I am just duplicating the originals. I do have a vacuum chamber for degas, I also have a pressure chamber for setting the copy. The shore hardness is a little higher than the product your using so this first piece is more of a test than anything. I'm not sure if it will be flexible enough. I'm also concerned about the UV stability. Altho its advertised to be you never really know until you test it.

I am interested in modified bottoms if these work out, but I'm only testing a portion of the sole to save product and I'm anxious to get these on my feet. Ill buy another pair when I get ready to go further.

Your work is superb. I was going to order from you but you don't have a true 10 yet. When it comes to my next pair, if your tooling is complete I'm certain I'll just buy from you.

In this case, I want a set of true 10's clear and I'm ready to wear these shoes already! When I got the shoes one didn't light up and instead of wearing them I went straight into mod mode. That wasn't my plan.
