I am actually thinking that they didn't have a pair of the real shoes to reverse engineer, rather just worked off images. I found one a while back that gives the looks that the mid sole is darker than the upper which is what we got with the V2s.
How long does your 3V set up last?
Yes, They didn't use a mould of the 2011 release. They simply redid the original mold for the V1 knockoffs which themselves were based on the Mark Poon soles.
The same with the uppers. The V1 uppers were based off the Mark Poon, then the V2's were slightly changed but still based off the Mark Poon uppers.
If they had access to one of the 2011 shoes, they would have no trouble making a 99% exact copy. Since there was only 1510 pairs of the originals, it seems as though any early production pairs or seconds were not able to be obtained, otherwise we would have an exact copy now.
Even saying that though, they still can make a perfect replica just from images, but it seems they cut corners at every opportunity.
I'm surprised they even bothered going to the detail of having the texture on the grey soles and the heel, yet didn't bother fixing the easy stuff.
Even the clear soles they could have done the slanted part, but obviously did a quick job.
They probably did it on purpose as the best selling replicas are Air Jordans, so thats why they come out with multiple versions fixing every flaw. That's where they get their money from.
