Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Below are the switches brad, they are tiny!! Not sure if you got yours as I did ask for a side by side of the judco but its fair to say these are half the size ;)

Could you please link me to where I can buy those switches?

As always ask and you shall receive :)

PS I did link them a while back but saves you looking :D
They do work, I've just soldered it up to my shoe and away to install one in the cuff (photo to follow ASAP)

EDIT - here is the photo of the cuff (I can't see the switch which is excellent?) and here is a clip of it working, will do the other shoe tomorrow as I'm knackered!

Tomorrow I will let you all know how long these 9v batts last before finally ending this pair, then it's onto the 3v pair

Yep, I got my switches also. Though the ONLY issue I have had with them is that the posts are VERY weak. After installing one of them, one of the posts broke off. I can forsee this being an issue in the future.

It's funny but I have just thought about doing the rechargeable 9v port as well. LOL!

Add lots of solder (I mean like a KG of the stuff to each terminal lol) then use hot glue then heat shrink, that will not break, I did it that way to be safe.

Yes this is the safest way to do a rechargeable 9v setup, just make sure your custom lead has the correct +/- leading to the dc port or its bye bye battery

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Home sweet home :)

Right so the 750mah 9v batts have finally arrived (I think these are the best ones out there, please correct me if I'm wrong and link) and the charger that came with them, all hooked up to my cable and it works tremendously, no exploding batteries and no extra heat woohoo!!

It's going to be a long night I think as its like Christmas for me at the moment :p

looks fantastic

so for that battery, you simpy wire your own cable to the battery and hae the other end with a small dc pin.

then just make your own custom dc plug with a 9v connector at the end? or can you buy them already done?

looks amazing

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Yep, all I did was make a cable (I posted it several pages back) which has a 9v connection one end and dc cable other end that fits straight into my Cloneprops buckles that has a dc jack sugru'd to the inside of it so its permanently aligned that can't be removed with movement when wearing.

The charger plug with 2 external 9v ports was bought with the batteries so I have exact voltage for them, it runs at around 10v safely and the two best things of all now is that I can charge them both at same time for 4 hours full charge(as stated on the product) and also I don't need a Zener diode.

there surely must be something similar for a 3.7v lithium battery also.

ive seen 12v lithium batteries with dc plugs already on the end of them, so maybe theres one out there.

Before buying a single 9 volt battery I decided to join you guys and get that exact same 9 volt rechargable system. Couldn't be more simpler! I have a question though. What female DC piece did you use inside the buckle? And what male piece size did you use? Links pretty pretty please!

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Thanks for those pics and info Taff! I have the exact same 750mah 9volts and charger on the way, and didn't realize it was that simple to wire the recharging system up like that. Sure beats taking the batteries out of the shoes every time like I was planning.

Do you have a picture of how all these wires connect to the battery? With all the wires already going to the inverter and LEDs, I'm just having trouble picturing how you add yet 2 more wires to the battery posts... Or are you connecting everything (wires to inverter, wires to LEDs, wires to DC charging port) to the single +/- wires of the 9v connector plugged into the battery?

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

No problem, here to support the mag lovers as always :)

Use a multi meter to find out if your charger cable is setup right before putting it in your dc port on your mags, check before just plugging it in that you have 10.32V displayed and not -10.32V, very easy to mess things up and blow either your battery or inverter.

So main things to worry about, make sure +/- from the 9v connector is right way round when going into the dc jack. Secondly make sure your +/- is hooked up correctly from the 9v rechargeable battery to the dc socket.

If the above are not right you either blow your battery or you blow your inverter( inverter because the charger uses 10v and inverter is only good for 9v, that 1V makes a huge difference)

I'll take a photo of my 9v connector that is in my shoe when I get home later but basically the plastic cover I cut off and then there are the +/- connectors that you can solder another +/- that goes to dc port.

I'll post up a amended 9v diagram so it's easy to understand later on.

No one should have to put up with taking batteries out of the sole it's just wasting your time and money buying batteries.

Taff, seeing as you're in the UK, BTTF is on ITV2 at 7.40!

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Thanks for letting me know! I should be home then, will give me something to watch :D

Below is how I wire up the dc charger also a photo of my one if that helps

mkcMbXv.jpg

So all I have done is cut off the top plastic sleeve of the 9v connector and on the top is two circular plates so to speak, I just soldered a + and - cable on that goes to the dc jack in the buckle.

Taff, someday we need to meet. Since my family is from Scotland, maybe we're long lost family. Lol

My great grandfather came here from Peterhead, hence the Fyfe last name.

Well if you ever plan a trip over I live 30 mins from Peterhead, could mod like 20 pairs of mags together, it would pay for your trip =D

Oh and finished the second dc cable, I taped them together so it's less messy

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

On the little white switches you posted Taff, do you just bend those metal prongs so they pit inside the shoe?

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Thanks Taff for everything! Gonna save that picture for reference. I see a diagram update in the near future.
