Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

I wear a US 8.5 snugly. Would a pair of 8.5 V2s be too small, to big, or just right? I don't want to go all the way up to 9.5 and have them be huge.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

So I have done more work on my left shoe. Removed the old LED panel and am struggling on making a new one haha. Then I gotta somehow figure what resistors to buy for my panel to work with the 3.7v set up.

for resistors

basically just find out what the forward voltage is for your leds whichever you get.

usually its 1.8 to 2.2v but wherever you get the leds from should specify.
and they are often 20ma.

if you put the values in the online calculators it gives you the correct resistor to get.

im trying various setups, 3v batteries, 3.7v batteries and 9v, so different resistors are needed for all of them.

i definitely understand a bit better now after reading up on this stuff.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Just curious, where are you guys getting your EL Panels at? The place I was getting mine are out of stock of Aqua now.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Apparently they run almost a size bigger...

Jedifyfe measured an 8.5 V2 and said that it's 11 inches from heel to toe. My real 8.5 Nikes are almost exactly 12 inches. But my shoe does go at an angle from the heel where my actual foot goes with a little more than 1/4 inch of fabric and plastic or whatever. So I'm going to just blame the length difference on the specific design of the shoe.

I think it's different depending on the size you get.

Well that's a rough estimate. I do believe they run larger and I think some people have mentioned that sizes actually vary across the board, even within the same size, i.e. 2 pairs of 9.5's may not even be exactly the same length... I am open to be corrected on that though. :angel

Wow that sucks. They might actually be true to size, but they just stupidly label them wrong.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Looks like those Nike logos got removed. Thankfully I saved it to my flickr account.

thanks, i was looking for some nike logos.

ps,

ive got my 3v thin inverters, the black end of the wire which goes to the el cutouts, which is the negative/positive? i think one of the black wires has writing on it, the other has some rectangular stripes.

Hah. I did my hyperdunks a while back. After seeing this guys conversions a month or two ago, I decided to change my blue lighting...

Hi
you know the pink cardboard under the soles, did you completely rip it out?

i ripped out the white piece that was stuck over it and just ripped out the entire pink thing.
Now I can see through the shoe!

before i ripped out the entire pink thing, i was testing how well the 3v thin inverter fits, and they are pretty good.

i reckon a nice extra layer of eva foam like you stuck under your eva inserts should be great, and remove any feeling of wires or anything underneath.

Have you tried that inverter with a charged Li-ion 4.2 volts yet? I am working on my second shoe and tried going with a different inverter and the new inverter can't handle the 4.2 volts.

hi
no, at the moment, ill be testing 3v, 3.6v and 3.7v batteries for different setups

I believe you can get these same thin inverters in 3v, 4.5v, 6v and 9v i think, but ive only seen the 3v and 9v for sale.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

if anyone needs a spare set of ankle buckles, ive got one scratch made pair for sale in the junkyard. cast with polyurethane rubber.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Looking at the pictures I posted of the RDs and Jedifyfe's V2s, I noticed that the laces and ribs on the V2s don't match up on the midsole where they should. I'm not sure if this has already been pointed out though, so correct me on that if it has.

Yeah it has been covered and ignored. Same as the placement of the inner seam, the addition of the seam on the collar and several other things. There are some things that can be changed out to be more accurate and other that only a scratch build can fix.

My real 8.5 Nikes are almost exactly 12 inches.
Real NIKE? As in RD NIKES? Are you holding out on us?

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Home sweet home :)

Right so the 750mah 9v batts have finally arrived (I think these are the best ones out there, please correct me if I'm wrong and link) and the charger that came with them, all hooked up to my cable and it works tremendously, no exploding batteries and no extra heat woohoo!!

Below are the switches brad, they are tiny!! Not sure if you got yours as I did ask for a side by side of the judco but its fair to say these are half the size ;)

It's going to be a long night I think as its like Christmas for me at the moment :p

Tomorrow I will let you all know how long these 9v batts last before finally ending this pair, then it's onto the 3v pair
