Jedifyfe, that toe fix looks about as close to the RD 2011 MAG as you will get short of recreating a brand new sole with a thicker toe. Well done

It may be even possible to completely remove the resistors from this wiring diagram, if you are using actual 3v LEDS. I dont know if anyones done that yet though.

I will probably run some tests soon. The whole point of having a tiny inverter and thinner battery is to completely avoid having to put them under the soles beneath your feet. Everything should be in the ankle buckle, well thats what my aim is anyway on the scratch build.

I'm pretty sure it should be bright enough also, but i could be wrong.

My black mags run one resistor instead of the normal three that has been done in the past.

This week I plan to run my 3v wiring loom that will power all EL and LEDs, keep you posted how I get on but I think I've sussed it

Looks like you got the same problem as me Brad. You end up doing such a top class job on the reglue of the toe that the factory 2mm glue seepage around the rest of the sole is more obvious

Yea I could do other pairs quite easily now. Hhhmmmm, not sure I would be willing to do more unless it was worth while as it's a pig though.

Yup, mine is very neat like yours too, but it does expose very slightly around the top of the rubber by just a fraction. I guess it's part of the process to ensure they are properly sealed but our toe corrections have no exposure at all, look spot on.

I finally got my EL panel complete with inverter through from Chinaland.

NOw I can see the power and frequency I am supposed to output from the inverter circuit I knocked up.

I first thought it was green but now seeing it with the supplied inverter Its more of a Bluey/Green.

I can and have had that colour from my small inverter circuit. Its the brightness that im finding a pain as the specs of the IC's I was using were not upto what they said they were.

I have a load more different ones coming from other suppliers in the next week hopefully. Although I emailed a load of requests through from work and have been off since Wednesday with the dreaded man flu so no idea what they have said about samples.

I might knock up one of my original circuits and send it to you Taff to test out.

I got started on the EL for my next set of MAG's. This time I used the original strap. I seperated the layers with a blowdryer and installed the wire tape and EL inside. Worked pretty well...

Awesome news Rich! Ye if you want to send it up ill get started on it ASAP! Currently back in Wales wedding planning but home in the next day or two depending on how I get on. I'll pm you my address remember when you do get this sorted I was the first to agree to getting a set of these amazing inverters off you, that's if you do have two kicking about but ye here to help you mate as I really want to support you as much as possible even with all the wedding planning I have time for this and the mrs can just deal with it or jog on!

Brad I'm blown away by your work yet again! You need to stop this it gets me too excited lol!! To think the strap off the v2's I have at home are just sitting there gathering dust has made me sick that they can actually be of use. Thank you so much for sharing this mate, I'm sure I am not going to be the only one thanking you here as I think the leatherette/pleather has been a hard source for those not in the states and helps save money when you can use what you pay for. My leatherette was super hard to get and to think I can't get more has given me such a boost to possibly get another pair now :confused

Luke - with regards to your pm I thought was best to post here so all can see, these were posted by Dino a while back from his RD mags and I just used these dims to keep it all as authentic as possible, sorry they are not the best my phones playing up but best I can do from a hotel room LOL! Apologies

I'm curious. I know there's been at least one full dissection of a V2...but has anyone attempted to try to remove just the Nike Swoosh to see if it leaves any residue? The oversized nature is surprisingly one of the few things that actually bother me about the stock V2s. So I'd love to see people able to replace them with a smaller one...but only if it wouldn't leave residue.

Ye I am with you on that as well Nick, the size of the swoosh is massive and a mod I have thought about aswell but I think if the size was reduced it would leave a imprint of the original size one, as its countersunk into the fabric by the looks of it

Only person I can think who could advise for sure would be Caloss as he has a pair in pieces at the moment, hopefully he is listening

Anyone found better EL panels than this? I used this originally and it was perfect, but only problem is there are only 4 sets of tabs so you have to cut 4 huge shapes to get your dosh worth. Anyone know of a similar sized blue panel but with metals tabs all the way around so you can cut many shapes?

In all honesty that's the best sheet I have seen to date(for size and price that is). There are others but I think they are the same. I searched for EL A4 Panel but also 4 terminations. There must be a way surely to use the other areas around the panel, surely :confused

Maybe glueing down some pins using areldite or the wire glue Brad previously used/still uses for connecting his doll house wire to panel?

As if by magic...ta daaaaa! Already cut for the right size on the Nike logo and in the UK. Sorted!

I managed to use a pin to pry the metal tabs once and then crimp them back into another piece of EL. Worked a treat but never again, what a *** about!

I just watched BTTF2..again, and I noticed that there is NO where in the movie that shows the MAG's with all Green, Yellow and Red lights on. There are only 2 times where I can see any of the ankle lights on. One is when he puts the shoes on and you can briefly see the Green lights light up on the right shoe and then when Marty gets out of the Time Machine in Hilldale BUT it's only the Green LED's/

Anyone else ever see all 3 colors??

I just watched BTTF2..again, and I noticed that there is NO where in the movie that shows the MAG's with all Green, Yellow and Red lights on. There are only 2 times where I can see any of the ankle lights on. One is when he puts the shoes on and you can briefly see the Green lights light up on the right shoe and then when Marty gets out of the Time Machine in Hilldale BUT it's only the Green LED's/

Yup, noticed it many times especially clear when he's outside Hilldale. I just think the different colour lights are cool!
