Nice work Brad! The EL in the soles looks really good!! Can I ask how you make the tongues look so rounded? Is there a cardboard insert inside the shoe?

Oh I got the BTTF Trilogy on blu ray for chirstmas that i havent watched yet, so I will check this out when I get home tonight

Started the mods to mine today, will do a toe revamp and colour the led section and frost the lens eventually, have 2 other projects also on the go so not in a rush.

The replacement straps from 2 lengths of PVC stitched together

My nike logos in block out vinyl, important so it blocks unwanted light

The stitched and Velcro parts so they do the same job as the Chinese straps but less Velcro on the inside of the strap

The el section, 120mm x 20mm. I'm using this so that it allows a nice curve across the strap bend

Logo on

Be rude not to light it

Some mega strong double sided tape

And fold over around the standard cup

Voila all done

Off

And on

IMO this is the first major mod to do, if there's enougH interest in a strap supplied ready to go with the el section and the decal I could do some for the less involved modeller.......all you need is an invertor and as there are so many ill leave that to you to get. Hope you enjoyed my mod and feel free to copy it if you wish

could you possibly post a picture of the inside of your buckle with the inverter/battery/switch?

if you could let us know which is a good inverter/battery and switch to fit inside the buckle,

that would be really helpful,

I used the same one that I think is on the other thread, black box with an on off switch that takes small disc batteries

Thanks. I am going to copy this idea, but I think I will only place it on the outside as its purpose is to support the strap and prevent it sliding down as one walks in these shoes. If it is not enough, I can add more to the other side.

Surprised no one here has used 0603 LEDS for the strap, it's a bit more involved but you don't need a inverter you can go straight to the switch and to the battery. Anyways good work and I think I will slim my pair because of this thread!

Those look great wish I had a cutting machine, the xacto knife is a pain to use! What is the material that you used for the strap? I can't seem to find any PVC material that isn't really high gloss.

I cut them all by hand, the logo is computer cut though, the strap is two layers of PVC, it doesn't fade and is flexible and doesn't tear. I used the same strap 2 years ago on a mark poon shoe and it was still bright white

I'm probably going to get flamed for this but I'm gonna say it anyway...

The reason no one used LEDs for these is because the real shoes (both 1989 and 2011) use EL and this is all about being "accurate" even though there are plenty of things that make these V2 shoes pretty far from. They will work with what they have I guess.
