Taff I emailed you twice on the address you gave me. Still waiting on that shopping list. Pretty sure I have most of it by now, just want to be positive. Either way thanx for all of the help thus far.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

People really are useless aren't they?!

Ordered some replacement parts for my little inverter, they come all packaged up as the correct components...take them out of the bag, for 1. they are a totally different footprint and 2. they are a totally different IC altogether. FFS!

"Sorry sir must have been an error during the packing process"

I wish there was a massive Electronics store localish that you could just walk into and buy anything you want like a Tesco etc...Would be ideal for me!

So still no progress as waiting for the correct bit to turn up :(

On a side note I have been playing with my other "project"..

Not to scale and only a temporary set-up to prove the concept..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYmloCnGGGw

Tweaked my code since then to run a little better but the works PSU I bought home decided to pop a fuse for some reason (didn'tt like my driving probably!) so can't test it at home :(

It's funny they sell horse's but not a wide range of electronics, gotta love the U.K! :S

Hope you have some luck dude, I am so eager to see all this working as you have given 110% towards this and I personally can't thank you enough :)

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Well I got pee'd off the other day with Farnell keep mucking me around so decided to go order some samples of an IC I wanted from the manufacturer who appear to be based in the good old USA.

Samples due to be delivered today from UPS :)

3 days for them to get here "FREE" from America yet im still waiting for my EL panel which I paid for from China! And still waiting for Farnell to give me the correct replacements. Mental really! So il play more over the weekend hopefully.

Thats who I bought it from.

Been 2 weeks now, They only sent it last thursday as well which was a week after paying for it. It might be at home when I get back tonight hopefully.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

good work guys, all the mods look good!

I have a half related question tho. lets say I have a pair of soles/midsoles that I wanted to make a copy of, what materials and options are there out there to go about doing that? I just need a few suggestions to get me pointed in the right direction if anyone can help me out. =)

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

joanns fabric store material speaker fabric color battle ship grey......need glue /paint/ electronics etc,, Here are some pics on my almost finished 1st pair V2 mags i must do allot more modifications before this shoe is complete but i thought i would share my progress and show pics of mod work that hasnt been done yet hope you enjoy.

will have more pics of this mod when finished. Good luck on your builds guys .Pm me if you have any questions

Can't see the images. All I get is an error at photobucket.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

I've been a bit quiet the last few days due to not really progressing with my circuit due to the IC's not working to the specs they have stated.

Ideally im looking for around 110Vrms which these IC's can output...but in reality they do not, more like 96Vrms which is enough to power the EL panel but not make it silly bright.

El is weird anyway in that the type of voltage/frequency applied can make a difference in brightness and colour outputs of any given lamp. For example I can make the Panel Taff sent me Blue by changing the frequency of the AC applied. Which in theory should not happen according to my boss (phd in maths and advanced electronic engineering and god knows what else). So taught him something recently.

I have found some others though from a company over in America and have asked for some samples. So just waiting to receive them. In the meantime il be playing around more with Capacitors/Resistors on the board I have made to make it work how I want.

Little gutted really but I should learn not to trust spec sheets from the manufacturers after all these years! "Yes this bit does 120Vrms" ..Errr no it doesn't.

Hopefully have some better news in the next few days when I've had more time to play...you shall not beat me electronics!

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Keep up the good work bro. You've got a bunch of us pushin for ya to make it happen.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Well I'm about to do my straps with some el tape, some vinyl graphics which I have cut loads of, and some strap templates on PVC..... I just need to run a stitch on them, slide the el into them, add the decal which is cut in blackout only and I'm happy.

I've already made some before for my pools so there simple to do

Not sure if I will be able to offer a strap and el to others so all you would need is to source a driver/power source

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Looking for anybody to chime in here. Do you think we are able to do this setup like brad did with the MPs, with the v2s? The exception being that I am using a 3.7v battery.

I believe its possible, others may disagree, but Like Cloneprops said before, 3v is enough to power the EL for strap and EL for soles. He's using 3v and is able to power them, so it seems possible. He said 3v should be enough, and we don't need to have 6v or 9v or 12v batteries/inverters.

Taff83 is actually powering the EL Strap and EL soles with an existing 3v inverter and a 3.7v mobile battery and switch on his V2, while also keeping the existing Coin cell powered ankle LEDS /switch, and his EL bits seem bright enough.

so logic dictates that by adding in some wires for the LEDs should be possible, and then you wouldn't need those V2 coin cell powered leds anymore.

The sq cm area of the EL Strap rectangle is very small, and the area of the EL circles for soles isn't that big either.

Since the 3.7v battery has a high mah range like 1800 or 2500, it should last very long, especially once you add a mini dc charging pin.

I believe a tiny 3v inverter should be enough. A tiny 3v EL inverter is listed as being able to power from 0 to 500cm of EL tape, so therefore its logical that it can power both the EL Strap rectangle nike logo, and the circular EL shapes for the soles.

It may be even possible to completely remove the resistors from this wiring diagram, if you are using actual 3v LEDS. I dont know if anyones done that yet though.

I will probably run some tests soon. The whole point of having a tiny inverter and thinner battery is to completely avoid having to put them under the soles beneath your feet. Everything should be in the ankle buckle, well thats what my aim is anyway on the scratch build.

I'm pretty sure it should be bright enough also, but i could be wrong.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Thanx for that air. I'm sure we'll have it worked out soon. I'm trying to figure this thing out. Not easy tho
