Yeah, four attempts for either the midsole, or the strap for one shoe.

they are £20 now
bit pricey

that a6 size panel someone put up previously on ebay seems more cheaper if getting 2 of them.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

I tried a6. Wasnt big enough for me, to be honest 17-20 i thought was ok as it gave me 4 sole sections, just as well as i decided to do mine again after the first attempt i wasnt happy with. Thing with el wirecraft is you get pre assemble very nice quality terminals ,wires and connector already on. There solid and show no signs of breaking under stress ...... I guess thats where the extra cost goes

with one a5 panel, are you able to cut out 2 sole and 2 straps?
or do you need another panel?

im just measuring the requirments for the el sole cutouts at the moment.

i do have some other a5 panels i got quite a while back but they are different colours, so im just working out how much i could fit on one panel.

ill probably go for a5 like you say, you can reuse more pieces, with some wire glue if there are no pins left on the sheet.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

I ordered an A5 sheet. I don't have it yet, but measuring it out it seems like you could fit both midsole and strap pieces.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

I've been watching Jedifyfe's tutorial on the EL strap and I can't figure something out. He warns you not to get the wire glue over on another part, but doesn't specify which part not to get it on. And if the wire tape is just as wide as the EL sheet, then how do you not get the glue on the part he says not to get it on? Could someone post a picture of theirs without any electrical tape on it? That's what made it so I couldn't figure out what to do because in Jedifyf's video he skips over and the tape is already on, not showing what's underneath.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

If anyone Is interested I have my last set of custom scratch made rubber ankle buckles in the junkyard.

I'm using my other pairs for my multiple v2 modifications.

Look at the older video by jedifyfe I think it might be on there.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Maybe I missed it but does anyone have a template for cutting the el sole?

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

On the EL sheet there are two "terminals". You can't get wire glue going from one terminal to the other or it shorts the circuit out. Obviously you have to have wire glue on each terminal but just keep the glue clean and separated from each other. It's a difficult task with such a small area.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

ok I got the heel cup to pull back by heating it, but I cannot get the clear sole to separate. I'm using a hair dryer and heated the heck out of it, but can't seem to get the glue to loosen up. I tried nudging it with a butter knife but not much luck. Are y'all having to do some cutting to get the separation?

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Didnt cut mine, just a case of easing the knife bit by bit, if it starts to give the impression its about to be too hard to peel place some more heat, some parts you have to go a few mm at a time. Once the knife gets in there its simply a case of moving it around from one side to the other.

One of my shoes was difficult, the other came away with little heat.

Ill be honest and have to admit i didnt find any of my mods difficult, it all seems daunting thinking about it but after doing the toe work, the clear soles, heel removal, led and el replacement, even judco switches installing was a very simple painfree experience.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

putting the switch in is not easy at all. i find it tedious and quite irritating if im honest!

do you have pics of your switch inside the cuffs? how much does it stick out?

also soldering leds onto styrene plastic is not good if using a parallel setup, as there are 6 rows to solder instead of just 3 in series.

still its the only option really for me at the moment, as no thin 9v inverters available anywhere other than those rip off merchants in the states.

Look back on page 59. I posted a close up picture of the RD MAG with the EL lit up. That should work perfectly as a template. Just size it correctly for your pair of shoes.

Thank you for clearing that up :)

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Just got done with my first mod on the shoes. I didn't actually install an EL panel in the strap, but instead printed the white/black "Nike" logo, covered it with packing tape(to give it a shiny appearance,) and glued that into the strap and re-glued everything! For my first mod i'd say it looks MAGnificent :3

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Show us a pic :)

I did something similar with blue reflective tape and think that white would work better because I could then add small blue LEDs later if I wanted lights.

Here you go! Sorry if lighting's not the best...
