Thanks for the responses guys. I did a chat with them, and they were able to look up the order and all is well. They said Alibaba (credit card processing company?) isn't open at this time (it was midnight in China) and that's why it showed that message. They assured me they'll ship in 24-48 hours as normal. Can't wait! Now I have to order all the mod supplies...

What type of resistors do I need to use on each series of LED's for my 3.7v 1800mAh battery set-up?

I read somewhere that you need different strength resistors for green and the same ones for yellow/red. Because they are more/less powerful than the green. But I don't know what the v/mAh output is for the 3mm diffused LEDs. Can't find anything via google.

I'm not sure you would need resistors if you are using a 3.7v.

Steadily plugging down the shopping list of mod stuff here...

So far I have ordered:
EL sheets
Inverters
9v rechargeables
Judco 987 switches
Dollhouse wire tape

I'm having some trouble with the LEDs though. I know Brad and everyone agrees to get "3mm diffused," and to use 10 ohm 1/2 5% resistors. No problems there, I understand that. The 10 ohm value comes from the forward voltage of most LEDs that size being around 2.2v.

9v - (2.2 x 4) = .2
.02 is the 20 mA forward current of the LEDs
.2 / .02 = 10 ohms, hence the resistor value.

But I have looked through a million red, yellow, and green 3mm diffused LEDs all over the internet, and I'm finding that just about all of the LEDs for sale on ebay have a different forward voltage for the green, which is often 3-3.4 volts rather than 2-2.2. Or they have way different brightness ratings (MCD) between the 3 colors.

These look pretty good, but as you can see the green has the higher voltage rating:

Can anyone school me on what to get? Are the 3-3.4v greens ok to use with the same 10ohm resistor? Or will they not work since 3v x 4LEDS = more than the 9v of the battery... Or would they work but not be very bright if getting only 2.2v each...

If someone could give me the link of the LEDs they have bought and that work well that would be great. Thanks!

It's a L7135 ic booster chip. It boosts the power on the LEDs to 350 mah all the time, now the LEDs look bright and so does the EL.

DL4567, I use 12v LEDs no resistor for my 9v mags they work fine, not sure if that helps.

If using a 3v battery (ie 2 x AA batteries)

what resistors would i need for the above LEDs? they will be in parallel

and if using a 3.7v battery

what resistors would i need for the above LEDs? they will be in parallel

im having a bit of a struggle trying to work out what resistors would be needed.

when i bought them i actually didn't even know the voltages,

and also, in my previous post i actually got the voltage wrong on the green ones,

i emailed the seller after i posted, and they said all the leds they sent me are the same voltages, 1.8v to 2.2v, red, green and yellow

I got them from this seller "Bright Components"
Combined, 1206 items in bright components store on eBay!

i just emailed them and asked for about 50 leds of 3mm diffused yellow,green and red.

They said the Ultra bright ones they sell are the ones which are 3.2 to 3.8v.

I also found some leds called "Kingbright" brand, which are 3mm diffused and have low current of 1.9v

you can get kingbright 3mm diffused leds from lots of places, and the red,green and yellow seem to same voltages.

Alibaba is a website that you order things in bulk. Something businesses probably order from.

So EL panel, EL strap, (with inverter) and 12x 3mm LED's wired up to a switch AND the 3.7v 1800mAh battery....no resistors needed?

If you get a pair that doesn't have enough splatter on the mid soles, is there anything you can do about it? Is there any paint that won't come off with normal wearing?
